Chapter 13: Regret and Rebuttal

"W-Wait, Byakuya please let me go!" I was trying to delay myself in the midst of our tracks.
He turned around, looking at mr with softened eyes. "Hisana..."
"Wait.. Byakuya, you haven't looked at me like that for a long time."
"I've been neglecting you and a lot of other things, and for that, I'm sorry. I've been really more concerned with my own pride and the the sake of honoring my family's pride."
This was the Byakuya I had remembered before. "Bya-kun.."
He picked me up in his arms and carried me the rest of the way to the Kuchiki Manor. "Hisana..?"
"Hm?"
"I also know.. someone hurt you. In fact, tarnished you, correct..?"
I was hesitant to tell him, but I know in my heart I needed to tell him. "Aizen.. happened.."
"Did he.. hurt you in anyway?"
"Yes.." I sunk down.
"What did he do to you..?"
"I.. don't know if you want to know what he did. It was.. bad."
By the look I was giving Byakuya, he knew what had happened to me.. was very bad. He didn't press the issue, but instead his voice softened. It seemed as if he was trying to be more compassionate. "Let's talk more at our home."
Sitting down in the garden outside, the tranquility seemed to be calming me down. "Hisana, I have been so cold towards you since we've crossed paths again. I know that I haven't treated you the greatest, and for that I am sorry. I'm so conflicted on Rukia's execution that I wasn't sure to uphold my promise to uphold the law and swear by what I promised my parents, or to swear by the promise I made to my former wife, which her name was Hisana as well. She was Rukia's older sister.."
"Rukia... had a sister?"
"Yes. Hisana looked almost exactly like Rukia. However, when Rukia was a baby, Hisana abandoned her in the Rukongai district. I found Hisana, we met, and fell in love. She struggled with an illness, that was unfortunately unable to be treated. Before she had died, she told me to find her sister and adopt her as my daughter."
"Byakuya..." I reached out and touched his shoulder. "It's also crazy how you share the same name as her. However, you were from nobility. She was married into it. But, even while I was in love with her, you crossed my mind so much. When I found you again in the world of the living, my heart was overjoyed. I wanted to have you back. Hisana..." Byakuya took my hands and placed them in his. "I want us to enjoy many years together again. Just like before. However, you will be a large part of my life again. Just as I'll be a large part of yours. I want you here, everyday."
"Of course, I will gladly be here, everyday for you."
He kissed me softly on the lips, smiling warmly. "I'm very happy to hear this. After all of this chaos is over, I'm hoping maybe we'll have a formal wedding ceremony."
A blush spread across my cheeks. "O-of course!"
"I take it you have to go back to that Ryoka boy, don't you?"
"N-no." I shook my head.
"I feel bad though about Ichigo. I hope he's okay. Perhaps he's training for his bankai. He only has three days though since Rukia's execution was moved up.."
Looking back up at Byakuya, I smiled softly. "Did you have something in mind?"
"Yes, I did."
"Oh? What is it?" I was quite curious as to what Byakuya wanted to do. "
"I have some hot springs on the grounds. Want to go there?"
"Woah really? Let's go! Wait. T-that means, you'll.."
i was blushing a dark red.
"S-see me...."
"Just come on." Byakuya smiled and chuckled a little bit.
