⊰ chapter sixteen ⊱

"I was there for two whole days," Dara whispered as if it was a sin for someone more to hear it. Jungkook was across her, holding her hand as he was sitting on a broken knee while Dara shivered on the edge of the royal bed, "It was cold. No one lives there. No one lives where the compass resides. It's so lonely there, just loud voices that kept on telling me the mere truths. They are just louder than before, harder to concentrate on the real world-like right now, it's so hard to talk to you through it and not listen to the voices in my head."

"You can hear them now?" Jungkook was worried, clearly.

Dara nodded, lips trembling, "It feels like...it feels like there is no escape. I started seeing light once I screamed back to the voices of how I wanted to be home. As if it asked me if I wanted to go home and not justify my minister's deaths who died for nothing. I don't know what it was, if I was fighting my ego for the first time in life-the same ministers who cut me out. But I replied affirmatively. And so i followed the light, and...and-,"

"And?" Jungkook squeezed Dara's hand, "Dara, it's okay-,"

"I traveled to the parallel realm." Dara's eyes were blood red, her hands shaking between Jungkook's, "Jungkook, the parallel realm...it's a quarter-week behind realm time. And I saved them, saved them before Theon..Theon slaughtered them all. And before I knew...before I could think-I saw the Curve. The curve, Jungkook, is exactly where we are right now. The North. The parallel realm is no different, just the realms don't exist there. It's just the rule of the curve, and Theon! Theon! I wanted to save him too, Jungkook, I wanted to bring him back but I didn't know where was! He wasn't there anymore, he was gone!"

Jungkook grabbed the woman screaming on the top of her lungs into his chest and embraced her, rubbing her back. Jungkook didn't know what to do, it was too much on her. She had too much to look into and on top of that, this massacre. He was clueless. Dara cried on his shoulder as he rubbed the back of her head, her hair rough, "It's okay, Dara."

"I am sorry, I am so sorry," Dara pleaded, "I am so sorry. I would have never killed him-he is my brother. I didn't-I didn't know he wasn't himself...all this time," and of course, the great ruler's hands were entitled with the murder of her own cousin, this was going to cost her and haunt her for the rest of her life, "I wish I knew he was trying to talk to me. I am sorry."

Jungkook wondered why the compass never projected Theon's intention clearly. It was even frustrating since Dara said the compass wouldn't take her back to Theon to save him from the parallel realm. If Theon had good intentions and never to harm Dara, the compass would definitely bring him back. Jungkook sighed, he was an Eastern afterall. He pulled back and looked at Dara, whipping her tears off her face, "You need to get back up, Dara. This is no time for sobbing for vain ones. You have a Kingdom to carry on your back; Ayree is being held figurative for her actions since the beginning-,"
