Dara sat across Jeon Wineri, the first woman in the ministry of the Western Realm. Jungkook sat next to his cousins, beside him was his mother and across them was Era, Jungkook's ex-fiancé.
Jewel served the tea across the table, the little girls were enjoying the sweet treats that were served to them, whispering to each other, "The Queen is beautiful. I can't believe she's our relative now."
Era rolled her eyes, her braided hair in her hands as she leaned back and watched Dara, and then spied on Jungkook.
Wineri looked at Dara, "He looks healthier, your kingdom must have been taken care of their new prince ever since."
Dara smiled, "I am fond you see the difference. Though I can't tell, I'm with him every day to tell the difference."
"He used to return skinnier every holiday to the West. Aunt was very worried if he was being fed well. He's the only son of hers," Jungkook's young cousin replied, "We were accompanied by some locals on our way to your palace, they speak very highly of you. Your story of love with my cousin is very well known."
They really know what's false.
Dara looked at Jungkook who shrugged with a grin and replied, "Our people love your cousin. He is an admirable man. And very popular among women so whatever you have heard, gentleman must have been through the helpless ladies."
"Helpless?" Era scoffed, "Does that include me?"
"Sorry?" Dara was unattended. Then she realized the mistake she had done, "Oh. Honey, no. I am very sorry. Jungkook just had every woman ask for his hand for marriage in the North, the family were helpless and were asked to marry their daughters somewhere else. That's what I meant."
There was no silence afterward as Era spoke again, "I asked if it includes me too,"
Did this girl not fear at all? She could lose her head if she wasn't related to Jungkook.
"Era." Wineri did not look at Era but simply spoke in a stern voice, "Behave yourself."
"My word of engagement has been stolen." Era's voice rose, "You brought me here to break off this marriage, and give me back my spouse. Instead, you give her the family heirloom which should belong to me."
"Mother." Jungkook's eyes widened at Wineri.
Wineri sighed, "I did not expect to be affected by the Queen's personality. Era will accept, the way I accepted."
"It's for the best." Jungkook's cousin looked at Era with a concerned yet warning look.
Dara felt uncomfortable. Era felt insulted, she knew. She came all the way to take her love back, but now she had to return empty-handed. She must have been deeply wounded by this situation. But looking at Jungkook, the man did not seem hurt at all. Nor did he look like he was being in discomfort.
