"Have a seat." Sean says, motioning to the seat. Maeve takes a seat and crosses her legs. Her eyes dwell over the captain, she bites her lip a little on the inside.
'He sure is fine too..' Shoots through her mind but she forces herself to get that thought out of her mind. That isn't something she should be thinking.
Sean unbuttons his jacket and sits down in his leather office chair, leaning back slightly as he got comfortable.
"So, Ms Trix. I've read your application and it's certainly interesting. It states that you have experience in this field of work? Can you tell me more about that?"
"Yes of course." Maeve smiles softly as she looks at him, making direct and relatively intense eye contact.
"I've been a private detective for several years now. It's been mostly affair type of assignments. The dear lady is scared her husband is cheating, sends me out to follow him. I'm sure you know how that works."
Sean nods with a small smile as he listens intently.
"Some are of course more difficult than others and that's what makes the job fun. But it's still the same base and same components and now I'm looking for something that's in the same line of work but with different ingredients so to say." Maeve runs her fingers through her hair, a little flirtatiously in the hope to score some bonus points with Sean.
"I personally think you would be a great addition to our detective team. Especially considering your previous experience. I'd like to introduce you to my two detectives Burkhardt and Griffin, you three can work together on the more... Complicated cases. Currently the detective that's without partner is ill at home but in the end you will become partners with that detective when he's back on the work floor. Sound good?"
"Sounds perfect to me." A wave of relief goes through Maeve. She did it, she's one step closer to getting the job done.
Whilst Sean and Maeve are conversing, Nick Burkhardt would be watching them from his desk, along with Hank at his side.
"So, what do you think Nick?" Hanks asks.
"She seems interesting and looks like she'll be able to handle this job."
"Oh she looks more than interesting." Hank says as he looks at Maeve.
"Hank seriously? You're not gonna get on your knee a fourth time are you?" Nick chuckles.
"You just had to pull that card didn't you?" Hank rolls his eyes in amusement. "I wonder which detectives she'll be joining considering Pegus is back at home."
"I don't know. I'm sure the captain will tell us. There is something about her though, I just can't wrap my finger around it." Nick mutters.
- back to conversation of Sean and Maeve -
"Perfect. Are you available to start tomorrow?"
"As a matter of fact, I am." Maeve smiles.
"Good, we start at 8. I'll see you tomorrow." Sean gets up, shaking her hand before making his way to the door. He opens the door for her and nods with a small smile at her.
"I'll see you tomorrow, Captain." Maeve winks a little mischievously at him before leaving.
Sean takes by surprise by the move but brushes it off. He's sure she didn't mean it like that. Right? Yes of course she didn't.
"Don't jump to any conclusions." Renard mutters to himself and sits back down at his desk.
"See you tomorrow boys." Maeve smiles at Nick and Hank as she walks past. Hank nodding with a smile as she walks past, Nick just a small nod.
"So I take it that you hired her?" Nick asks after he walked into Sean's office.
"Yes, she seems like a good person to have on the task force. She's experienced with this type of work as she was a private detective before just not with murders. Above all she's smart, smarter than she lets out and that could be useful for us."
Sean taps with his pen on the desk.
"Who will she be joining?" Nick asks
"Maeve will be joining you and Hank until Pegus is back. I'm sure that won't be a problem?"
"No, of course not. I just hope she is able to deal with the murders. Especially with how brutal the Wesen murders have become." Nick folds his arms while looking at his captain.
"That's up to you and to Hank to find out how much she can take. The more she can take, the better. But if she's unfazed then there's more than meets the eye. I'd like to know if that's the case."
"You got it." Nick nods and leaves Sean's office, closing the door behind him.
Maeve would've left the police station by now and she puts her helmet back on, starting the engine of her motorcycle and driving off not long after.
She made her way to a coffee shop, getting off her bike and going inside. Her eyes look around for a quiet spot, her eye falling on a table in the corner and decides to take a seat there.
After she just sat down, her phone rings. She grabs her phone.
'Viktor' would be displayed on the screen.
Maeve scoffs and flops back against the booth, she hesitates a little before picking up.
"Hello Viktor, long time no see." She begins.
"Indeed, any progress so far?" Viktor cuts straight to the chase, he wasn't the type of person to stall.
"The progress I've made so far is good. I'm now a detective within Sean's taskforce but sadly I have to work with the Grimm. That could cause some trouble if he finds out about me and everything else."
"Then you better make sure you deal with him before he can cause trouble. Casualties will happen either way, not like the world would be worse off with one less Grimm."
"The world would be way better off with one less." Maeve agrees.
"You'll hear from me soon, and I will be expecting new progress."
Viktor hangs up before Maeve could say anything else and she lets out a soft groan.
This ought to be fun the next couple of days.
