When walking inside of the house I went straight to my room to get unpack and get in the shower to get ready to go back downstairs to see laurel and Susannah. I was wearing a baby blue crop top shorts and my baby blue air Jordan ones with some necklaces. I sprayed some perfume on and headed downstairs before the moms can see me I ran up to Susannah and Laurel and hugged them as tight as I could "Omgg my baby look at how grown you have gotten" Susannah said "yes I can't believe it and she 18 it is absolutely crazy" laurel adds on "yea imagine seeing her every day it's a constant reminder". My mom said playing with my hair.

" So where's jere belly and Andrew" I say looking confused. "Oh they went to go swimming at the beach" laurel said getting ready to go "oh ok where are you guys going" I said "well laurel is going to by whale of a tale and Susannah is going to the country club and I just decided to tag along we shouldn't be gone for too long we should be back before dinner my mom says patting my head.

                 SKIP TO DINNER

we're all at the table and I'm in the middle of Conrad and belly with laurel next to belly and across is jere Steven and Andrew and at the end tables are my mom and Susannah

Jere Steven and Andrew are laughing at something on Andrews phone and my mom says "Andrew I swear to god if you look at that phone one more time I'm putting it in the screen basket" I try and hold in my laugh at him getting in trouble. " it's just that we want to see your beautiful faces can dinner be a screen free zone like the olden days" Susannah says while going to take a sip of her juice.

"Andrew" jere says as he takes his phone and shots it into the basket. "BOOM NAILED IT" jere says while sitting back into his seat. Good shot jere" I say to him while giving him a high five. "ok we get it you've been working out" "oh your just jealous jere has a better body than you" belly says while smiling "ugh no actually it's all about the lean look now other wise you can't wear tailored suits" he says as a comeback laughing at there childish behavior I also realize that Conrad had actually cracked a smile he hasn't said anything to me since the pool witch is weird.

Cutting off my thoughts Steven says "when are you leaving for training camp man" before Conrad can say anything jere says he quit football "wait you quit football" I said looking at him shocked knowing how good he is. He just looks at me nods and then put his head down. Steven adds and says "are you kidding me man I would kill to play college ball". Susannah cuts in and say "he can always change his mind". "I'm not gonna change my mind" Conrad says stern
"I was just gonna sit on the bench all season anyways". "that is definitely not true I seen how you good you are it's a shame you waisting such good talent". I say looking at him serious.

There was a awkward silence for a little while until laurel chimed in and asked "well if your not playing football then what are you gonna do all summer" all he did was shrug.

"Oh dude you can work at the club with me jere and Andrew" Steven said excited "I'm not gonna work at the club" Conrad said "wait you guys are working at the club this summer" me and belly said at the same time confused. "Yea Me and Andrew are lifeguarding while Steven is working at the snack shop".jere said while fist bumping them

"Oh belly and Alex I almost forgot I have surprise for you" Susannah said while going to retrieve two envelopes. "so this is why you wanted to go to the country club today" my mom says to Susannah. me and belly begin to open our envelopes. "I wrangled Alex and belly an invitation to be a debutante" she says smiling looking at us "is that the thing where girls wear white dresses and curtsy" belly says "it's when I girl comes of the age and is presented to society I know it's sounds silly but I swear it's fun, girls come from all over New England to cousins just to be apart of it you'll make so many new friends" she says excited

" I still can't believe you are still holding on to this archaic dream" laurel says getting up from the table to go get more champagne and come back

"no it used to be about finding a husband but now it's about networking they teach you leadership skills and how to market yourself and benefits charity it's like a Bar mitzvah" Susannah says trying to convince us to join

"It's nothing like a bar mitzvah, there is nothing religious about a debutante ball" my mom says

" the whole deb scene is bullshit it's for sheep" Conrad says while looking at me. "No it's not it's when a girl has a coming out it's a formal recognition she's reached maturity" Susannah says while taking a sip of her drink.

Steven laughs " I'm sorry mature ... belly a couple of months ago you had a cat funeral mad a all wear black. " shut up Steven I saw you crying in your room" belly says to shut him up "wait Moche died dang sorry bells" jere says "aww I'm sorry belly and and belly is very mature, more mature then you Steven actually" I say sticking up for belly "Alex belly don't you want to get all dressed up" Susannah says

" it's just not belly's kind of thing maybe Alex but belly's our feral little alley cat" laurel says I couldn't help but laugh because it's kinda true

"I'll think about" belly said "same it sounds fun who knows I might make some more friends, but I just wish my dad could be there to see me you know it just won't be the same" I say, everyone starts to look at me with a sad expression I couldn't handle it I needed a breather. "Um can I be excused" I ask my mom "yea sure hun" "ok great thanks" I say "your dad will always be with you Alex and I know he would be proud you and belly are thinking about it" Susannah says to me "yea I hope" I say low but able to hear while leaving to go to the pool.
