...FOUR...
~Clement's Law Firm.
(17th of February, 2015)
Clement sat in his office.
He was going through a particular case that had been brought to him the week before.
It was a cunny case on the surface, but pretty ABC to him the more he studied it.
A knock on his door drew his eyes away from the stapled pieces of paper in his palms.
The door opened before he could say anything.
He knew who the knocking intruder was in that moment.
It was his secretary, Sukanmi.
He was the only one in the whole of his law firm who would dare to come in without being invited.
This was because Clement was a well feared man.
He was quick to find fault.
He shut the door behind him and stepped into the office.
Clement watched his secretary as he came up to him.
His eyes was scanning around the office as if his boss was hiding something in there.
'Are you busy sir?' he asked his boss while looking at him with a worried look on his dark face.
'Is anything the matter?' Clement replied with a frown.
'It is five o'clock, and I noticed you have been leaving the office every Friday at five."
Clement's eyes widened.
He had lost count of time.
"I checked the time," Sukanmi continued, "and it was past five."
Clement raised his right wrist to his eyes to check the time.
His silver watch actually agreed with his secretary.
It was indeed past five and he was supposed to have left by now.
He abruptly rose to his feet.
"—so I thought I should inform you in case you had forgotten,' sunkanmi was saying to him in the background.
"I am late," he muttered.
His secretary eyed him as if he was a mental patient.
Sunkanmi was a precious darling.
Sunkanmi deseved a raise.
But he definitely was not going to tell him that though.
He might at least give him a bonus with his salary.
Clement carelessly dropped all of the document that was in his hands on the table.
His secretary's eyes followed his movement in confusion.
That was unlike his boss.
He was always orderly.
He watched him as he hastily shut down his computer, proceeding to check his watch again.
He was getting late with each lazy stroll of the minute hand.
He shouldn't wait anymore.
'Watch that thing,' he ordered him, pointing at the computer.
"Yes sir," Sunkanmi answered.
'Be sure that it properly shuts down,' he added.
His secretary nodded as he walked past him.
'Sir,' he called.
He turned back.
'You left your suit jacket.'
Clement nearly groaned aloud in peak frustration.
That damned jacket!
He walked back in swiftly to take the suit jacket.
Then he turned away and hurriedly left the office.
Sukanmi watched his boss leave with a look of concern.
He was admitting inwardly that his boss was kind of strange today.
Or mayhap, unwell.
