Virgil had ultimately decided against asking Patton to make them leave.

For one, Roman spent nearly twenty minutes begging them to let him and Logan stay, at which point Patton cut him off and told him they were welcome to stay as long as they needed, no matter what. Virgil still kind of wanted them gone, but he also didn't like going back on his word. Well, he hadn't agreed to anything, but Patton's word was his word. And while his paranoia hated to admit it, they really were good roommates.

After that had been settled, Patton (bless his soul) offered to help pay for some of Logan's medications. Virgil'd nearly had a heart attack but luckily Roman refused, saying they couldn't possibly expect that of them. He told them what Logan really needed was just time. Then he'd grabbed a plate of food and a few water bottles and carried Logan back to their room.

Patton then looked at Virgil, realized his faux pas and apologized, but Virgil had just said it was alright. Patton explained he'd felt bad for them, then Virgil kissed him and said it was fine, that he felt bad for them too. It'd been a while since he'd seen Patton so relieved.

They ended up ordering food in for dinner. At that point Logan was well enough to join them, though he was incredibly red the entire time and wasn't able to respond to anything straight. Maybe it was because they'd been caught, or because of the nature of the reveal, but either way Virgil rather enjoyed it. At least they were capable of some shame. Or rather, Logan was capable of enough shame for the both of them.

Roman was chatting away with Patton about some tv show, seemingly not a care in the world. Logan had always struck Virgil as the more composed of the two, but apparently not. Or maybe Roman really was just that unaware.

They watched a movie after they ate. Well, a movie was playing, at least. Virgil wasn't really paying attention and he was sure no one else was. Patton was trying to pretend to watch the movie, but he spent most of it on his phone researching hormonal therapy. Little things like that overwhelmed Virgil, they cemented Patton's ownership of his heart. When Patton thought no one was paying attention to him, he looked at how to help his friend. It was impossible for Virgil to fall anymore in love with Patton than he already was, but moments like that made it all crash into him and overwhelmed him in the best way possible.

Roman was sat on the couch, and Logan was on his lap. Logan had forgone his usual habit of sliding off Roman's lap when others were around and was curled up against him. He alternated between looking at Roman liked he was the sun and keeping his face pressed into Roman's chest. Roman was holding Logan closely and running his fingers through Logan's hair. They were both awake but neither were looking at the screen, too content to simply be in the presence of one another. Maybe their hormones hadn't stabilized yet, or maybe it was just the relief of having a place to stay.

And maybe it made Virgil relieved as well, maybe even a bit happy. Maybe he was glad they were safe, maybe he liked having them around. Maybe his paranoia and sad reluctance to let them stay wasn't irrational anxiety but stubbornness, a product of wanting to keep his space with Patton sacred. Only the worthy could enter, and honestly he wanted to keep the worthy at bay too. But not only were Roman and Logan worthy, they were desperate. Virgil could sympathize with that.

The movie ended. No one noticed until well after the credits were over. They went to their respective rooms. Virgil put his arm over Patton and held him closely. Patton snuggled up against him. They kissed briefly, then tried to fall asleep. Virgil hoped Logan and Roman were doing something similar, that they too enjoyed basking in the touch of their lover, praying that nothing would ever change. If Roman's story was true, then Virgil was quite inclined to think they'd earned that bit of happiness.
