After the appearance and recruitment of Y/n into the freedom fighters, many things changed.

One was that it turns out he could make infinite copy's of himself and they all shared senses and memories.

Another was that with him now a freedom fighter, many confrontations with robotnik and his lackeys went well in their favor.

But what was happening in knothole was an entirely different story.

Y/n has gotten along with everyone at knothole.

His personality, goofiness and fun loving nature made him well liked among everyone there.

Y/n has also had the time to get to know sonic and his friends.

He and rotor enjoyed making jokes.

He and Bunnie enjoyed looking at nature.

He and sonic enjoyed racing each other.

He and Sally often talked about each other's lives before robotnik.

Y/n couldn't lie, he found her beautiful to look at and was in love with her but did not tell her because of how she may react.

Sally also had a similar problem as she found his personality likable, his smile could brighten even the darkest of days and his want to help them showed her he was very dedicated.

She has fallen in love with Y/n but was worried how her friends and people would react.

But out of everyone Y/n has interacted with, tails really made his heart ache.

He had heard from sonic how tails's life was like, with him losing his parents, being bullied because of his extra tail and how his name was originally a cruel nickname because of it.

He wanted to help everyone and tails was someone who needed help the most.

So when Y/n visited tails workshop, he thought about the decision he made to help him and how this would likely change how not only tails would see him but also how everyone else.

Y/n was inside tails workshop talking with tails.

Tails: You know it kind of nice to have someone so invested in learning about what I built.

His smile and happy sounding voice really pulled on Y/n's heartstrings.

He decided that he would tell tails about his decision involving him.

Y/n: I actually wanted to talk to you about something.

Tails: sure what's up?

Y/n: (sigh) what I wanted to talk to you about relates to what sonic has told me of your past.

Hearing this, tails happy look changed into a somber one.

Tails: oh, okay. So what is that you want to talk about

Y/n: Tails, you shouldn't have gone through what you did, from losing your parents, being bullied and how your name was first meant to be.

Y/n: This is something I couldn't bear to see anymore. You may have gotten past that, but I can tell your still hurting on the inside.

His words made tails look at Y/n like he wasn't expecting him to say that.

Tails: What do you mean by that Y/n?

This made gave him a smile, not his usual grin but one full sadness.

Y/n: I can't replace what you've lost, but I can help fill in the role.

This made tails widen his eyes in surprise and shock.

Tails: A-are you saying?

Y/n: Tails, if it will help you with the pain you have inside you, I would like to be your new father.

Tears started welling up in tails eyes.

After so long having to deal with the fact his parents were gone, he was someone that was so invested in helping everyone, he would do anything to help them.

With tears in his eyes, tails lunges forward and wraps Y/n in tear filled hug.

Tails: (sobbing) Yes, I would be happy if you became my father!

Y/n returned the hug petting tails head whispering soothing words to him.

After a while, the two separate.

Y/n: I feel like this is gonna a real handful when we tell the others.

Tails returned the joke with a smile.

Tails: I think so too... dad.
