I did see the Student Council, just as Lillian had predicted. I was actually just finished with my first day of school and walking back to the dorm with Lillian when I happen to see them clustered together in the courtyard.
There looked like three guys and two girls talking. After seeing them, there were two things on my mind. They were all eerily beautiful and I was betting all of them had that same weird crest somewhere on them. So they were special. Well, in a way.
"You were right. Well at least about the attractive part," I turned to Lillian. She looked smug.
"I'm never wrong," she said happily while staring at them, not unlike most students who also happened to pass by.
"Well, can we--!!" I was cut of my Lillian's mini shriek.
"Oh my god. Don't look now, but the president is looking at you!"
The president? Of course that made me turn my head. I found several pairs of eyes staring back at me, including Alec's. Was he the president? Thinking back, I remembered Evelyn calling Alec that once. No wonder he was so arrogant. As soon as I had turned to look at them, Alec gave me an irritated look and started talking to his friends again, looking restless. One of the girls gave me a cold, lingering look before turning back to Alec like the others.
"He was the student who ditched me today," I said sourly and started walking again.
"Him?! How are you so lucky?" Lillian seemed truly flabbergasted.
"Lucky? He ruined my first day."
"Well, you'll get over it. I know what'll cheer you up. Let's go into town and shop!"
I debated in my head. I didn't have any homework and I was kind of curious what the town looked like…After thinking about it, I became less tired and more excited.
"Well. Okay," I agreed hesitantly. "But we shouldn't stay out too late."
"Whatever you say!"
We walked back to the dorm together, with Lillian greeting people enthusiastically the whole way. Someone put way too much sugar into her coffee this afternoon. Lillian invited a girl named Julie to come with us. She seemed nice enough. She definitely had as much enthusiasm as Lillian. I liked her enough to put up with her.
As we walked past the courtyard, I couldn't help but notice the Student Council was gone. I felt a tad bit disappointed. Stuffing my hands into my jacket pockets, I tried to keep myself a bit warmer. Lillian and Julie chattered away the whole walk.
"So what do you think of them Emma?" Julie asked mischievously.
"Sorry. Who?"
"The Student Council."
"Oh. Well, they're fine. I guess."
"Only fine?!" Lillian butted in.
"They're pretty? Maybe smart? I don't know. And I've only met like 2 of them. Are they like family or something?"
"Gross. No. Well. Actually the president has a sister. She's pretty. Like a doll. Kind of quiet and cold though. Anyways, all of them came here about a year ago," Lillian stated as-a-matter-of-factly.
"And you know this how?" I asked raising my eyebrow.
"Students gossip about them all the time," Julie added. Huh. Who would've thought?
"Some of the Council keeps to themselves. Some of the guys are playboys. Only a few girls total. Most of them are pretty friendly," Lillian said thoughtfully.
