Darkfrost pushed her fur against a snowy bush of ferns, hoping to get rid of her scent. She didn't want an IceClan patrol to find Snowpelt's body and track Darkfrost.

Her claws gripped the snow as she padded on, impatient for them to get in Ravenspots' fur.
This is for IceClan too, she convinced herself. He'd make a terrible deputy. She knew herself that was a lie, but...
The memory of him smacking her.
He deserves it.

Suddenly, she caught a IceClan scent.
Could it be... Ravenspots?

She realized she had gone to the edge of the border, at the DawnClan border. She could tell from the sound of the rippling of water.
She then heard paw steps and stiffened.

Daring, as quietly as she could, she snuck her head out of the bush to see Ravenspots' back turned toward her, and lapping up the water from the river in a crouch.

"You!" Darkfrost sprung from the bushes.
Ravenspots didn't have enough time to turn his head, "What do you want no-!" She had pinned him too quickly for him to continue his sentence.

She grabbed the fur from his head and dunked it forcefully in the river.
Ravenspots let out a gurgle of protest, and his tail lashed, his paws sprained across the snow, clearly struggling.
She hissed, and reared up, dunking him head more harder in the river.
Die already, you vermin! she hissed.

She let go, and for a moment, he was too stunned in shock, and when he gazed up at her, she purred at his expression.
Yes, fear me, she thought with triumph.

She then used her jaw to grip the fur of his scruff and pushed it under the water, waiting for bubbles to pop in the river. She would wait as long as she had to kill this creature.

Ravenspots' body suddenly went limp, and she stepped back.

Ravenspots was dead.

Darkfrost wrapped her paw over Willowfrost's shoulder as she cried into her daughter's fur. "I'm here," she soothed.
Willowfrost didn't seem to hear her. "Why did StarClan take them from me? My daughter and mate on the same day?"

Adderberry padded forward to the two. "Darkfrost, tell us again how you found them?"

She felt nothing.
No regret.
Only triumph.
Now they can't hurt any cat no longer, she thought.

She then mewed, "I was hunting until I had found Snowpelt's body, I tried to find a patrol by the DawnClan border, but then I found Ravenspots' body," she repeated, glancing at the limp bodies in the clearing.
"Alright," Adderberry nodded, taking a dip of his head.

She narrowed her eyes as she saw Whiteclaw curl his body next to Snowpelt, with Cloudspots grooming his son comfortingly.
I've killed her, yet her blood still lingers, she thought. You better watch your back, Whiteclaw.

The sun had started to set as Redstar leaped onto the Highrock and yowled, "All cats old enough to drift in the snow, gather below the Highrock for a Clan meeting!"
The cats crowded forward, their eyes full of grief and despair.

"Before I announce the new deputy of IceClan," Redstar began, "we should acknowledge the tragedy that fallen on us. We have lost three good warriors in one day, Jayleap, our deputy, Snowpelt, a potential deputy candidate, and Ravenspots, an honorable warrior."
Darkfrost rolled her eyes. Honorable, huh?

Redstar looked at the sky as the sun started setting, "I say these words before StarClan, so that our warrior ancestors may hear and approve of my choice. Darkfrost will be IceClan's new deputy."
She stepped forward (and stepped around the dead bodies laying in the clearing) and dipped her head at Redstar. "I'm honored, Redstar, I'd never expect to earn such an important role, but I promise to serve you and IceClan well until my last breath."

"Darkfrost! Darkfrost! Darkfrost!" The cheers were drowned out by Darkfrost's own thoughts.

I did it. I've been seen as weak, useless, by them. Who are the weak ones now? I'm strong, stronger than ever. I have the will to break the warrior code for the greater good.
How does it feel to be weak one, huh, sis?
