Darkfrost took a deep breath as she pushed her way through the lichen and inside Redstar's den. "Redstar?" she mewed.
Redstar lifted his head up in the middle of him grooming himself in his nest. "Yes, Darkfrost?"
Darkfrost's tail twitched. "The patrols has reported some strange scents from the Adderrocks."

It had been five moons since Snowpelt and Ravenspots had their accident. Everyone had mourned their deathe, but not Darkfrost, she remembered the blood oozing from her paws.
It made her feel powerful.

She wants to be that powerful again.

Redstar tilted his head, "Can't you assign a patrol to check it out?"
Darkfrost shrugged. "Yes, but wouldn't it be easier for IceClan's own leader to see firsthand what the issue is than just be hearing it from a patrol?"
Redstar nodded, slowly getting up from his nest, "Let's go then."

"Why didn't we bring other cats with us?" Redstar asked curiously as they trecked through the snow.
"We're just seeing what the scents are," Darkfrost reminded him as they moved along.

I hope my calculations are correct, thought Darkfrost. This IS Redstar's last life, so, I better make it count.

Darkfrost pushed her way through the snow-covered bushes, she could just hear Redstar's pawsteps right behind her.

Suddenly dark gray stones loomed over the snowy clearing. Darkfrost swerved to make room for Redstar to come in, keeping her face neutral.

Redstar lifted his head and sniffed the air, "I don't smell anything."
Darkfrost shrugged. "They said the scents came from the stones."
Redstar took a step forward, his eyes full of confusion. "Still not smelling anything."

Darkfrost raced to on one of the boulders, below the boulder, was a heap of stones that was guarding it. "Come closer, can't you smell it?"
Redstar padded closer to where Darkfrost was, coming a muzzle-length away from the heap of rocks.
"Where?" he mewed.

Darkfrost smiled, "Right here!" she flung a few of the stones away. There came a hiss as a sleek copper brown head darted forward, tongue flicking.

Redstar took a step back, widening his eyes. "Adder!" he gasped. He was so scared, one of his forepaws stepped too far back and stepped on his own tail, making his fall over.

He let out a wail of fear as he tried to get up. At the same time, the adder striked toward him.

Redstar was too late.
The adder's fangs had leaped forward and dug its fangs right into Redstar's eye.

Darkfrost calmly stalked forward and dug her claws deep into the snake's skin, killing it with a tsk.
Redstar reached his paw forward to Darkfrost in a desperate plea. "Help! It hurts! Get Adderberry! Quick!"

Darkfrost let out a tired yawn, as she groomed her chest fur. "Nah, I'll just wait it out."
Redstar's reply was a wail of pain as all his emotions shown: Betrayal, pain, disbelief and despair.

Darkfrost didn't like what she was feeling, and wanted to destroy it just like she destroyed Snowpelt and Ravenspots: Regret.

Redstar's wailing suddenly stopped as he went limp.

Darkfrost's ears flicked as an IceClan patrol burst through the snow-covered bushes, consisting of Whiteclaw, Rainpaw, Cloudspots and Ivywhisker.
Darkfrost quickly covered her face in despair.
Rainpaw widened her eyes in horror. "Redstar!"

Even Ivywhisker looked horrified. "How did this happen, Darkfrost?"
Her ears fallen flat against her head, "We were sniffing out the Adderrocks, but an adder had killed him without warning.. I was only able to kill the adder after he joined StarClan," she moved her tail to reveal the adder's limp body.
Ivywhisker sighed. "StarClan will honor your bravery..."

Cloudspots looked as if one of the trees at Fourtrees were taken away as he padded forward and pushed his muzzle against Redstar's fur. "He didn't deserve this..."

No, but it had to be done.

IceClan belongs to me now.
