I cried when the door closed. I didn't want to put Cassie in an orphanage, but I had to. Is the only way she would get fed every day. The only way should be safe from those men. I promised I'd come back someday for her ,but I had to be safe first.

For a whole month I slept on the streets. It is cold and scary, but I had nowhere else to go. All I had was my PJs and a light jacket. I decided to lay on a pile of leaves one day until I felt a rough hand jolt me awake. "You get out of here you brat! This is my home!" I quickly got up. Oh what a horrible sight was he. He reeked of alcohol and pee, he wore dirty clothes with rips on them. His shoes had rips on the front where his toes belonged. I quickly walked away frightened that he might decide to do something to hurt me.

After that I couldn't sleep much so I walked up and down the street until a young woman saw me. "Honey are you okay?" looked around to see if she was talking to someone else. "Where are your parents? " She was now in front of me with a worried expression on her face.

"Dead." I whispered. For the millionth time since Papa died I cried, but this was the first time I cried in front of a stranger.

"Oh honey, come here!" The lady said as she embraced me in a big hug. I had to admit I was shocked. First if all, I smell. Second, I'm very dirty. And last I'm a stranger and she's here hugging me. Even though I didn't know her she made me feel comfortable. She hugged me as if I was her daughter and I couldn't help but hug her back. She was beautiful with long black hair that reached her waist, bright green eyes, she was the perfect height( about 5' 9"), and had bronze skin. When we pulled apart she smiled from ear to ear and I swear her smile shone brighter than the sun! She looked a lot like my mother in some ways and at the moment I really wished she was.
