Jackson Alaster stared at himself in the mirror. His dark brown hair was pushed out of his eyes. His lanky body was covered by an ill-fitting suit. He threw his head back and ran his bony hands through his hair. He inhaled sharply as a small ring on his pinky got caught. He pulled it out and stared at it. 13 years old. The ring barely fit anymore, it was silver and had vines and leaves etched into it. He shoved it back onto his finger and went out the door.
He stood before the gate and scanned his ID card. After a few seconds the gate swung open. He stepped through and examined the school. It was very big and 'H' shaped. The one way windows covered the building, reflecting the bright blue sky that surrounded them. He smiled at the building. This was his future. He planned on staying at this school for many years to come, watching wide-eyed children become heros. Watching them save lives and become world renowned saviors. He exhaled, hard. Getting rid of his anxiety and getting ready to leave his old life behind. "I'm a teacher at UA high-school." he whispered to himself as if that opportunity would leave him if he didn't reassure.

He waited before classroom door. "Class 1-A" he muttered, dark green eyes flicking between the paper in his hand and the sign above the door. It opened from the inside. A strange man stood before him. he was tall and looked tired. His long black hair hung about his shoulders. "Come in, Mr. Alastor." the man said. That must be Mr. Aizawa. He thought.. Jackson nodded and stepped into the classroom.
All eyes were on him. He scanned the students. Some of their quirks were obvious like the girl with the frog tongue or the boy with wings. Others looked normal. Almost like they didn't belong there. A short kid with grown out dark blue hair. The boy with green hair in the front row sparked a particular interest in Jackson. He looked... so average. He had big, ambitious eyes and his face was dusted with freckles.
"Who the hell are you?" a loud, rough voice asked. It came from the blonde, spikey-haired boy behind the one with the green hair. "Bakugo." Mr. Aizawa said. Bakugo "Tsk"ed and rolled his eyes.
"This is Mr. Alastor. He's a new teacher from America. You all will respect and listen to him. He's a strong fighter and a good role model." Mr. Aizawa stated, eyeing Bakugo. With that, he sunk into a yellow sleeping bag in the corner and closed his eyes. Jackson cocked his head to the side. "Uh... is he asleep?" He asked, gesturing toward Aizawa.
Jackson cleared his throat and rubbed the back of his neck. He walked to the wood podium at the front of the room. "Well, hi. My name is Jackson Alastor, I'm from the United States and-"
"Why are you here?" Bakugo interjected.
"I believe Mr. Aizawa already said that." He adjusted his hands. "So, maybe we can go around the room and introduce ourselves? How about name and quirk?" A girl with pink hair went first. "My name is Mina Ashido and my quirk is acid!" She said it quickly an optimistically with a big smile on her face. Uraraka went next. Then Denki. Then, the dark blue haired boy he saw earlier, Shai. "My name is Shai Ino. My quirk is mind reading." His voice was flat and almost annoyed sounding.
The others introduced themselves. Jackson was messing with the laptop on the podium when he let his mind wander about the students. Tsuyu seems nice. I see a lot of potential in her. She reminds me of my mom in a way. Oh, and Izuku... he reminds me of Kai so much. Jesus christ I miss h-
"Who's that?" someone in the room said. "Uh... huh?" He responded. Shit! Was I thinking out loud... no.
His gaze drifted to Shai. He shuddered with relief that the rest of the class hadn't heard him thinking about Kai.
He shook his head. "Who is he?" Shai pushed. "It doesn't matter. He's irrelevant. He's a friend from the U.S." Jackson forced a smile. Stay out of my thoughts, if you can help it. He thought as loud as he could, hoping Shai was still listening.
He twirled the ring around on his finger while waiting for the projector to load. Midoria started whuspering to the girl next to him Uraraka. Midoria spotted Jackson looking at him and stopped whispering. A few seconds later, when he had his attention averted to the laptop, Midoria asked him "Sorry but what is your quirk?" Jackson smiled. He held out his hand and conjured 3 purple flowers from his fingertips. It sent a strange feeling through his hand. He fought the urge to pull his hand back, getting rid of the flowers, and watching them crumble. He had grown to hate that sensation.
"How the hell is that helpful?" Bakugo asked. "I can seduce the villan." He responded, bright red roses spurting from his palm. He winced. Some students laughed. Bakugo looked out the window. Wow, this guy's ego is huge. He thought, allowing himself a small eyeroll. Shai smiled.

At the end of the day, Jackson began to understand why Aizawa slept all the time. He had to break up multiple fights between Midoria and Bakugo and had to stop Bakugo from attacking other people.
"Class dismissed." He finally groaned. Students filed out the door, except for Shai. He smiled at Shai. "You can leave now man. Or do you need to talk about something? I'm open to critique about my teaching style and-"
"No." Shai shook his head. Jackson turned his head to the side in confusion. "Who is he. Kai. I want to know. He wasn't 'just a guy', I've heard the way you think about him." Jackson sighed and took the desk next to him.
"He was... a really good friend of mine." His hand instinctively went to the ring. "We knew each other for years." He closed his eyes and recalled all of the times they were together. He smiled. He opened his eyes and looked at Shai. "He's still in America, though. He had no interest in coming with me to teach."
Shai shook his head again. "You're lying."
