Walking up to the motel door, something felt off... You walked up the last stair and realized...
The door was unlocked.
The room was pitch black and all you could hear through the silence was Charlotte's faint snore, and the growing sound of your heartbeat.
"Char?" You ask aloud, creaking open the door.
Slowly walking inside, Charlotte is still fast asleep on the couch.
I could've swore I locked this before I left, you squint, locking the door behind you.
You head over to the couch to wake Charlotte, "Hey. Hey, Char, get up." You whisper, shaking her.
"Huh?" She questions, slowly opening her eyes.
"Why was the door unlocked? Have you been out of the room?" You interrogate.
"Mm, what time is it?" She asks, yawning.
"I don't know, like, 4:50."
"I got ice, from the ice thing-y downstairs." She tells you, rubbing her eyes.
"You scared the sh*t out of me dude. You didn't lock the door." You sigh, losing all tenseness.
"I didn't?" She asks, "Oh well... typical me." She shrugs.
"Lock it next time, I can't have someone breaking in here. You could get hurt." You tell her with concern.
"I will. I'm just so tired..." She tells you, laying back down on the couch. "So happy I don't have to go to school on a Thursday." She sighs.
"I have work tonight." You tell her.
"Oh no shot! You got the job??" She exclaims.
"I did." You smile, "Although it might've been out of pity." You laugh, laying down on the couch next to her.
"What time?" She asks, sleepily.
"Like 10 minutes." I just came here to check up on you, let you know what's going on."
"Yeah I would've freaked out like, 'nooo my bestie got vecna'd'." She laughed.
"Of course that's the conclusion you come to not, 'oh no my friend was kidnapped'." You shake your head in disappointment, "Well I'm gonna head back and if this door is unlocked I will murder you." You threaten, sitting up off the couch and heading towards the door.
"Aye aye cappin'!" She jokes, laying back down on the couch.
Looking back at her one last time, "I'll be back at 1:00 a.m." You tell her.
"Okie dokie..." She murmurs.
As you head towards the gas station, you notice no sign of any cars stopped near the gas pumps, wow they're so busy.
Walking inside you greet the boy at the desk.
"Oh you came back, I have your uniform." He tells you, as you walk towards the register, "You can change in the bathroom, and then come back out to the counter. I'll show you the ropes, but my shift ends at 6:00." He informs you, "You might be alone for an hour, or two, I'm not sure, but I believe Jane comes in at 7:00 or 8:00. Usually, we just close up for an hour until someone gets here, but now that you're here we can stay open the whole night." He notes, handing you a uniform.
"Cool, thanks." You smile, taking the uniform and heading to the bathroom.
The bathroom was surprisingly clean, and well kept. I suppose Hawkins does only have like 100 residents. Well, I mean... not anymore.
