Buck 2.0

"So you're telling me, Hailee Steinfeld slept in your house, on your bed. YOUR BED?!" Evie told her friend while pacing which amused Bobby while he placed the lasagna in the oven for it to cook before lunch. Buckley just sit still on the couch and nods with what her friend told her.

"And you guys didn't have sex nor sleep in one bed?" Evie added.

"Yep." Buckley replied.

"Dude, come on like why? Not even a kiss? Where's your A game? Where's that Buckley I met in high school who is very smooth with girls?" Evie protested. Buck chuckles and stands up and placed his hands on Evie's shoulders to stop her friend from pacing.

"Listen Evie, yes you are right I'm not smooth with girls anymore because I've changed. Buck 1.0 would be flirting with her all night but Buck 2.0 is being a gentlewoman." Buck said which made Evie laugh. She asked Bobby for his thoughts about it but he just said everyone can change and maybe Buck really changed which Evie still thinks that it's ridiculous. Charlie and Henry beg to differ, they both think that maybe Buck has a secret plan in getting Hailee to hook up with her which was disagreed by the probie. Before they could even argue more the alarm went off and they all geared up to respond to the emergency.

Hailee on the other hand is grinning non stop while she lays in bed still dressed with Buckley's clothes. Martini and Brando lays beside her all cuddled up and cozy, she was thinking about what happened this morning and couldn't wait to hangout with Robin again. While lost in thought her phone rings and as she checked the caller ID she sees that it's Ella Hunt.

"Hellooooo" Hailee says in a dreamy like voice.

"Someone's in a good mood today." Ella says on the other line. "Tell me who is this mysterious person behind it?" She added. Hailee tells her friend about her happy crush, she's comfortable to talk to Ella about it since she's the only person she trusts about her feelings towards girls.

"Sooooo you like her Haiz?" Ella asks on the other line. Hailee nodded and forgot that it's a phone call not facetime so she replied with she thinks so.

"You think so? Okay I'm not gonna invalidate that but take your time to think about it Haiz, and I'm happy for you already." Ella teased. They then proceed to talk about some interviews for Dickinson in the following days for the rest of the call.

It's the weekend again, Buck is currently setting up for her weekend gig at the pier. Bummer that Hailee won't be able to come due to her schedule but she's kinda relieved after what Evie told her during their shift.

Short flashback

"So you like her?" Evie asked while spotting for Buck.

"Well we just met like over a week ago and yes I do have a long time crush on her but should I know her more? I mean.." Buck stopped lifting and sits up. "I've seen her on interviews but that doesn't mean I know her like deep or personally. You get me? And before you start pointing out about who I was when we were high school, you'll never hear from me when you need someone to look after Chris when you're on duty and I'm not." Buck added and Evie punched her arm.

"Ow! Come on. I love Chris and it was a joke." Buck said rubbing her arm.

"You know. I'll leave it for you to decide. But remember this, what if she finds out who you are I mean your family and what about your grandma? Do you think she can handle it? I mean Ashley didn't even had the balls to stay when she knew. I mean it both literally and figuratively." Evie replied. "And she better accept Chris because he's your god son but more of like non biological son." She added which made Buckley smile.

End of flashback.

Evie is right, Buck thought to herself. She thinks that she does like Hailee but she needs to know her more.

After setting up, Buck started to play and a small crowd is starting to form around her again. She played song after song, made people dance and sing, and them giving donations which they know will be put to good use. Buck made a lot more today eversince someone posted a tiktok about her performance which made her gain more audience and supporters. After the gig, she started to drive to the nursing home with some flowers beside her.

When she arrived. She was greeted by the staff with smiles, she walks past some of the residents in the activity area looking for a certain person and when she finds them, she rushed towards the table and sit across from the person. Robin smiles and the person across her smiles as well.

"My Robbbbyyy you're here." The old woman across her says holding her hand.

"Hey nana, you missed me?" She said in reply squeezing her grandmother's hand.

The two of them catch up for a bit, she told about the girl she met at the pier and how she's starting to fall for this girl, her grandma is smiling and this made Buck smile in awe. For a moment she didn't think about stress from work or struggles in her life. (play the song) But then she was hit by a harsh reality, her grandma is having another of her episodes from having Alzheimer's, she started to throw a fit because she couldn't recognize her own granddaughter who always look after her. Robin tried to do her best to calm her grandma while the staff rushes to take aid but her grandma unfortunately hit Robin in the face so hard she knows that it's gonna bruise. This made her cry, the only person who understands her and loves her more than her parents is slowly losing the memories they had because of old age.

"I'm really sorry for that Robin, you know well there's no cure for what she have and we always thought that keeping her from having stress or sadness will help but I think she's not getting any better." the head of the staff who is also a doctor said to Robin.

"I- I know, but that will not stop me from coming here. She's all I have left and it's the same for her when it comes to me." She replied, the doctor can hear the hurt from her voice when he hear cracks when she talks about her grandma. "By the way, I also came here to bring you these." She handed the envelop full of the donations from her gig today, the doctor thanked her for it, he knows that if he tries to stop Robin from helping gather support for the nursing home he'll never win over her but it is a big help with their needs as well.

Buck's drive on the way home is filled with silence, she's usually playing music when driving but this time she just let her thoughts occupy her brain. The thought of one day her grandma forgetting about her completely, or the thought of losing her one day. She decided to stop on the side of the road as she can feel a panic attack is coming. With closed fists she started hitting the stirring wheel to pour out the pain, she knows if she didn't stop or get any help she can hurt herself so without any hesitation she called Evie but Chris answered the phone.

"Hello Buck! Are you gonna come and hang out today?" The child speaks on the other line.

"Uh-uhm not today kiddo I uh I'm sorry. Is your mom there?" Buck asked and Chris said that his mom is in the kitchen cooking them food. Buck asked if she could talk to Evie, the child then rushed towards Evie and told his mom that his favorite Aunt Buck is on the phone.

"Buckley what's up?" Evie asked.

"I- I uh could you please come pick me up or just uber at my location so you can drive me home?" Buck replied, Evie can hear that her friend is shaking and can sense panic from her voice. Without hesitation she booked a ride to make her way towards her friend's location. Evie knows Buckley so well, they've been friends since high school so she knows that Buck have a tendency of self harm but she never let her feel alone eversince.

When Evie arrived, she sees Buck fiddling with her amulet, her eyes are bloodshot red from crying and is shaking as well. She hugged her friend and proceed to drive her home.

A/N: Okay here's the thing, I was very close to my grandma (mother's side) when she's still alive. I miss her dearly and I remember being scared because her doctor said that she might have dementia. Anyways I hope you guys loved this chapter.
