Author's Note:

Hey y'all, I'm sorry that there is no new chapter this week, I got unexpectedly sick.

So below is what I first wrote when I developing their first meeting after being apart for 2 years. I was just writing to write: it was never meant to be the final draft. But I was gonna release some of them anyway after it was finished, but I guess I'll do it now😂 I will be back to regular schedule starting next week, promise!

Also, I have a one-shot planned for NuNew's bday and and a new book in the planning stages, so please look forward to them!

Soon, I stood under the concrete awning, looking up at the dark sky.

The storm had changed into a light rain, but the air was cold, causing me to wrap my arms around myself. Looking one last time at the sky, I quickly ran into the night, crossing the street and making my way toward the elevator. The lights illuminated it from the inside, making it easy to find. Pressing the down button, I curled more into myself, trying to escape the cold and rain.

Finally the doors opened and I stepped inside, shivering. Absent-mindedly, I pulled the chain around my neck back and forth, trying to soothe my nerves.

Shimmering in the light, I stared at the ring on my finger. Gently twisting it off, I held it between my thumb and forefinger, almost hypnotized. Drawing my lips inward, I tried my best to contain the tears gathering at my eyes.

Exhausted, I squeezed my eyes shut, willing all of the tears to be gone. Futile, I opened the bedside table drawer and set it inside. Once closed, I turned away from it, not even turning off the dim lamp as I willed my body and mind to forget.

On reflex, I reached for the ring resting at the bottom of the chain, its coldness almost electrifying. Does it know what's about to happen too?

The elevator notified me that it reached the parking garage with a soft ding, bringing me out of my thoughts. Walking out, I turned to the right again, seeing some cars lined up in the back. Tilting my head, I stood there for a second, trying to discern which car belonged to Hia. However, my indecision was short lived since one vehicle flashed their lights, a probable signal that this was his car.

Swallowing, I took the first step forward, not knowing what to say to the person I loved the most.

Hand holding the handle to the passenger side door, I froze.

I couldn't see into the car, the windows were tinted, and that somehow made me more nervous. It's not too late to run.

Breathing heavily, I opened the door and slid into the seat. After closing it behind me, I stared straight ahead. Where is all that bravado you used to get here?

Clutching onto my bag, my eyes wandered around the car, eventually lifting my eyes towards his.

Hia.

Black eyes stared back at me, matching his somber expression. He too had dark circles around his eyes, adding a certain depth to his face. His checks had hallowed out even more, their paleness almost ghostly. He had some more fine lines around his eyes, but that was expected with age. His hair was still cut short, but he wore it with his bangs in the front, making him look almost innocent. But despite all of this, I could still see the handsome Hia I met over two years ago.

"Khun,"

My eyes drifted down, his broad chest had some added definition to it, and his arms were slightly bigger. Even though his face had shadows that of someone who had been through heartbreak and depression, I was relieved that he still seemed physically healthy.
