Charles's POV
Erik and I decided to play a game of Chess before going to before going to bed. Erik eyes me as I make a move finally breaking the silence. "I'm not going to stop Shaw. I'm going to kill him. Do you have it in you to allow that." Leaning upright in my chair I intertwined my hands together staring at him. "You've known all along why I was here, Charles. But things have changed. What started as a covert mission...tomorrow, mankind will know that mutants exist. Shaw, us, they won't differeiate. They'll fear us. And that fear will turn to hatred." Lowering my hands on my knees I forget about the game in front of me. "Not if we stop a war. Not if we can prevent Shaw. Not if we risk our lives doing so." He cuts me off shaking his head in disbelief. "Would they do the same for us?" Tilting my head to the side I try and make him see my side. The side that I believe Aurora is apart of, there's just fear keeping her from seeing it. "We have it in us to be the better men." But Erik isn't having it. "We already are. We're the next stage of human evolution. You said it yourself."

Picking up my glass of alcohol I take a long drink wishing I hadn't said those words to him if I had known they would be used against me. "Are you really so naive to think that they won't battle their own extinction. Or is it arrogance. After tomorrow, they're gonna turn on us, but you're blind to it because you believe they're all like Moira." Finally I re-entered the conversation sitting my glass down on the table. "And you and Aurora you believe they're all like Shaw." Erik crossed his arms over leaning his back in his chair glancing to the fireplace. "Did you really think I wouldn't notice sooner, Charles?" Blinking my eyes a couple of times I raise a brow to my friend. "Notice what exactly?" He leans forward with a serious look on his face. Aurora said they weren't really a couple but he can't possibly mean that. How did I not see this thought in his mind before, maybe I have been distracted more lately. "She doesn't want to live in fear anymore, Charles. She's suffering because of Shaw. You saw inside her head a few nights ago. The torture won't stop until he's dead." Running a hand through my hair I bend my head down sighing heavily.

"Aurora doesn't want people to die, Erik. I understand that you've been through horrible agony but you must see that she's - she's struggling and..." Throwing my hands up I slump my shoulders finally looking him straight in the eye. "Lisen to me very carefully, my friend. Killing Shaw will not bring you peace...and you just might lose Aurora once it's done." Erik picked up his glass of alcohol taking a long sip of it. "I won't stop you from being with her. But that girl is the only person I consider to be my family. So if you ever hurt her I will hunt you down mark my word, Charles!" Erik sat the glass down baring his teeth in a deep threat. Getting to my feet I pick up my glass finishing the rest of the contence. Leaving the room I slowly stopped walking when my breath hitched in my throat at the sight in front of me. There Aurora sat on the couch the moonlight hitting her perfectly. She's holding a coffee cup in her hand simply looking lost in her thoughts, actually calm for once since the night we met.

Aurora's POV
Turning around I felt a silent presence behind me, resting one arm on the back of the cough I see Charles standing at the end of the hallway just watching me. I want to read his mind to see if Raven was right about all of this but I know he would feel me inside immediately. I'm not very sneaky about that ability yet. So instead I just levitate the second cup of hot chocolate I had made into his hands when he sits down in an arm chair facing me. "I couldn't sleep so I decided to make hot chocolate. It helps me I suppose...apparently neither could you, Charles." I pointed out taking a long sip from my own cup. He nods taking a drink of his own letting the house fill with silence like it had before I realized he was watching me moments ago. "Aurora, I uh - there's something you should know..." He breaks it sitting down his cup on the table coming over and taking mine from my hands as well. He sits right in front of me on the couch and I don't look away from his eyes. "What is it?" I whispered for some reason feeling nervous about this situation. He's clearly nervous too because he tugs on the collar of his shirt not saying anything for a minute.

"Charles, what do you want to tell me. Could you tell me in our minds?" I asked playing with my fingers but he gently takes my hands in his shaking his head no. It suprised me because he's usually great with explaining his feelings through words. Until he's around me so maybe Raven was right about this. He slowly moved his right hand up tucking hair behind my ear, resting his hand on my cheek. I press my face into his palm enjoying the feeling until he does something unexpected. He closes the gap between us finally pressing his lips onto mine. Immediately I freeze up a little hearing a tiny voice in the back of my head telling me I don't deserve. That this is a dream and he would never fall for a girl with a messed up past. But I don't care when I slowly kiss back resting my hands on his shoulders. His other hand runs through my hair deepening the kiss until he broke it for air. "I'm falling for you, Aurora Deerfield." He breathed out hope in his blue eyes. I give him a smile thinking in my head because I'm too afraid to say it out loud. "I'm falling for you too, Charles Xavier." He knitted his eyebrows together squeezing my shoulders gently. "I heard you. I actually heard you, darling." I almost thought he was going to be bouncing around the walls at this point. Because he hasn't been able to hear my thoughts since the night we met.

Without thinking I rest my forehead against his whispering under my breath. "Could we do that again?" He doesn't give me a verbal answer instead wrapped his arms around my waist kissing me once more. Wrapping my arms around his neck I grinned into the kiss. He's a good kisser. During the kiss I could hear him reply back almost chuckling in my mind. You're not bad either, love. Most of the night I don't remember what else happened because I'm too focused on kissing him in the moment. For this night I don't worry about Shaw. I don't worry that the world may hate us tomorrow morning. All that I focused on is that Charles is actually kissing me. Somehow through our kiss my hands made his hair a mess and I snorted accidentally remembering that he told Hank to not touch his hair. Charles kissed my forehead draping an arm over my shoulder with a yawn. "Let's go to bed, Rora." I feel my cheeks turn red hearing him call me the nickname Erik does. "Oh uh - I'm sorry I didn't mean to say that-" He rambles off until I kiss his cheek smiling, pulling him up off the couch once I'm on my feet. "It's cute, Charles. Call me whatever you want." He cradles my face in his hands leaning down kissing me for who knows what number tonight but I don't mind at all. Wrapping my arms around his neck we broke for air when he whispered down to me. "How about...my darling Aurora." Smiling up to the Temple I answered. "I love it."
