We arrived at the garage just as the mechanic slid out from under Wyatt's hand-me-down black '75 Dodge Charger.
"'Sup, Charlie?" Wyatt held out a hand to his buddy, who gratefully took it. "Is she ready, yet?" His eyes scanned his car.
Charlie rubbed his oil-coated hands on his oil-coated overalls. "Yeah, she's rumblin' like new, Y." Charlie's eyes caught Jessie and he seemed to straighten up. "Hi, Jessie." He smiled, his teeth the only clean thing on his body. "'Sup, Drew."
I gave a small nod and walked over to the lowering lever. I pulled it down and the vehicle started to lower.
Charlie's eyebrows knitted together. "In a hurry?" He asked starting at me for a while before putting his attention back on Wyatt.
"Yeah, sorry. We've got to go to Seattle. It was a short notice, and Drew's a little agitated, you know how he gets in long drives." Wyatt explained.
I glared at him, and he only shot me a hard look.
"I'm fine." I growled. "I just wanna get on the road." I stared at Charlie. "You want to put the wheels back on, Charlie? They're kind of an essential for driving."
Charlie looked baffled and turned to the car. He frowned. "Hmm. Don't remember taking them off, but I'll get those right away." He wandered off into a separate room.
Jessie glared at me. "You mind dropping the attitude?" She scowled. "I get that this is stressful, and that this vision has got you a little rigid, but Charlie's a nice guy, he didn't do anything to you. Be nice."
I bit my lip and cracked my knuckles - a habit of mine when I get frustrated. "I've got to figure out why I'm losing my ability." I yelled. "It's eating me alive inside. The fact that I barely know what the murderers look like, I don't even know their names. It's eating me alive that I only found out Jamie's last name from her sister, who doesn't even know she's dead!"
Wyatt looked nervously back to where Charlie disappeared into, probably afraid that he'll hear me. "I know, Drew." He said softly, looking back at me. "It's killing us too, but you've got to keep it together. You're the only one who can figure this out, and if you break down, those men are going to get away with it, and Jamie's just going to be another unfinished case."
I looked into his green eyes. Those eyes filled with confidence. Confidence in me, something I really needed.
I nodded. "I know." I whispered.
Zach's expression was filled with a lot of worry, but he wasn't looking at me. I turned my head to where he was staring.
There, standing with terrified eyes, was Sophie Craft.
