We walked around the warehouse, back to the Charger. I opened the passenger door but didn't get in. "So, they had another girl with them." I said. I felt like I was about to bash my head into the top of the car. "Great, so we have three murderers on a killing spree, and now we possibly have a runaway victim who is probably scared out of her mind and isn't thinking straight." I ran my hands from my hair to my face.
"Drew, this is a good thing." Paige said.
I stared at her. "In what universe is this a good thing?" My mind floated back to Olivia. "They aren't even slowing down their kills."
"This means that there is a girl out there who knows these men, and she can go to the police‒"
"If she can." I wanted to close my eyes and sleep forever.
"What do you mean? Why wouldn't she be able to?" Paige asked.
"Do you think that those men didn't create some threat to scare the victims? They probably said something like, 'If you try to make any connection with the police, we'll kill your entire family.'" I looked at Paige. "This girl is scared. I'm sure she wants to go to the police, but she's probably afraid of whatever threat the murderers made."
Paige seemed to try to take all of the scenarios into consideration. Finally she said, "Okay, we're going to get the rest of the group and we're going to find whoever this girl is." She opened the door and got in.
I decided to wait a few seconds before going in. I looked around the warehouse, trying to figure out why the girl would stay there for six days. Why didn't she leave?
I took one last scan of the warehouse before getting into the car. I closed the door.
Paige looked at me, but didn't say anything. She just turned the car on and we left the warehouse property without a single word, because we were thinking the same question.
Why didn't the murderers kill the girl if she was there all along?
