"Paige." I said as I walked up to the Charger. Jessie was already sitting in the back seat, and Zach was sitting next to her, obviously trying to talk to her.
Paige slammed the trunk of the Charger shut. I side-glanced to Sophie, but Paige shook her head. "I already talked to her."
I nodded. "What did you want to talk to me about?"
"Did Jessie talk to you?" Paige asked.
I glanced at the back of my cousin's head through the back window. I turned back to the girls. "Yeah, we talked. You don't agree with her do you?"
"No, but she's kind of right," Paige said. "This could, and probably will get very dangerous. These men, they're ruthless, and they're treating this like it's a game, like their victims are just parts of the game, and killing them is the prize."
"What Paige is saying, is that it might be a good idea to tip off the police. Like give them something that shows that these missing girls are connected," Sophie said. "That way, at least the police know, and maybe they can find Jamie." Her dark blue eyes stared at me, and I could tell how hard it was to talk about her sister.
I thought about it. "You do know that by tipping off the cops, we're putting ourselves in danger. That they'll be looking for these guys even more, because they are now either serial kidnappers, or serial murderers. And if we're found looking for them, it probably won't go in our favor. You understand that." I wasn't entirely asking them if they understood, I was telling them the consequences of their plan.
Paige looked at Sophie, who took no hesitation. "I understand, and I still want to do it." Paige turned back to me and nodded.
I took a deep breath in and nodded. "Okay, we'll have to talk to the rest of the group about it, but if you're up to it, and yeah."
Sophie sighed in relief. "Thank you, Drew." She gave me a small smile before walking to the opposite side of the Charger that Jessie was on and opened the door, sliding in next to Zach.
Paige looked into my eyes, reading that I didn't like the idea. "I know it's dangerous, Drew, but she needs this. It helps the chance of finding Jamie's body, and that's what she needs."
I felt my eyebrows drop closer to my eyes. I shook my head. "How is finding her sister's dead body going to help her?" My voice was deep, heavy. "It only makes everything more real."
Paige's gray eyes shoot to the ground, and she didn't say anything.
"Drew? If we want to have time to go to the warehouse and Grey Creek today, then we should get on the road now." Wyatt said leaning against the open driver's door.
"Come on," I said, my voice softer. "Let's just focus on finding the girl who is still alive." I walked over to the passenger's side and opened the door, leaving room for Paige to squeeze into the middle seat, the stick shift forcing her to have a leg on Wyatt's side, and a leg on my side.
I got in, slamming the door shut beside me. "Let's go." I said staring forward.
Wyatt started the Charger and pulled out of the diner parking lot.
