Hello guys

Finally, after a long day at school, Luke returns home. It's Friday, and the school discord server is going crazy, pinging Jordan nonstop. Jordan is offline, and Luke hasn't heard from him all day.

'Oh well.' Luke thinks to himself. He opens the door to his house, and his parents are standing there with a blank face, as if they were waiting for him.

BUNDA

'Uh oh.' Now, Luke thinks he's in trouble.

"Hey, bud. We've got to talk to you." Luke's mom, Cassandra says.

"Alright mom, what's going on?" Luke says, shakily, taking a seat on the couch.

BUNDA

"You're not in trouble." Luke's dad, Liam, reassures him.

"O-Okay.." Luke is scared.

"We've been informed by his parents. Your friend Matt is in the hospital right now.. He's doing alright, but it's not a 100% as to whether or not he's going to make it." Cassandra frowns having to break the news to him.

Luke's heart drops. "WHY IS HE IN THE HOSPITAL?!"

"He.. He attempted suicide last night."

Luke sits there with a blank expression, staring off into the distance. Those words pierce through his heart like an arrow- No, like a dagger. It feels like he was shot right in the chest. And his heart just keeps sinking. He grips onto his shirt for a second. He doesn't know how to react, but he feels water clawing it's way up to his eyes, only to come back out. He feels tears running down his cheeks, but he's in shock. Then, finally, it clicks and hits him that this is real life. This isn't a dream. He looks around to make sure it is. But his breathing is unsteady, his heart stopped for a moment- And now it's beating faster than ever. Those words, which cannot be shaken off easily, are making him rattle as if he were a snake. He looks down at his lap and feels the tears fall onto his lap. Then, he starts breathing heavily. This is a lot to take in for him, but how come? It was only a few words. A few words that would change the way he thought, maybe for a really long time.

God, if only Luke had stayed there- If only he were there to do something about this. Maybe, just maybe, he would be able to save his best friend's life.

He couldn't hold it back anymore. He started bawling, and as best as he tried to remain silent, he was just sobbing as loudly as he could. He didn't need to hold back anymore. All these pent up emotions, now this is dropping onto his shoulders like an elephant. He feels his face distort, although that's only in his imagination. He's sitting here while his best friend- No, his boyfriend, is clinging on for his life.

This wasn't fair- It shouldn't have been him, at least, that's what Luke thinks. Luke was petrified and he felt his parents hugging him. He heard them comforting him, but everything was going in through one ear and out the other.

Jordan.

Fucking Jordan.

Jordan was the reason behind all of this.

Luke was furious. At himself and at Jordan. Even at his parents. How could they address this so casually?! But he was angry at Jordan. He was so angry. And he was disappointed in himself.

He could finally build up the courage to talk.

"Leave me a-alone. I want to.. Go to.. My.. My room.." He's panting, but he gets up and runs. His parents oblige by his wish. He slams and locks the door. He curls up into a ball and cries himself to sleep. He had no idea what he was going to do.
