After school, in the hospital:
Matt sighs and slowly opens his eyes. He starts regaining consciousness and awareness. "M-Mom?"
He turns around to his mom, Maddie, sitting next to him. She's crying. "Oh, Matt.. Dear.. I'm so glad you're alive."
Matt slowly looks around. "I-I guess I am, yeah.. Woah."
This was a new experience. The smell of death fills the air. Something about that hospital stench repulses him. It smells so clean, but yet so sad and full of fatality. He hears the noises coming from the rooms outside, overhears nurses and doctors talking, he hears his own heartbeat on the monitor. He felt like he wasn't even in his own body anymore. He felt so weak and ill. He didn't feel like himself. He couldn't tell if, in this very moment, he wanted to be dead, or he wanted to be in his room next to Luke.
"Mom.. I want to go home. Please don't make me go to the mental hospital.. I don't want to go to that place. Please.."
His mom sighs. "Oh, baby.. I'm sorry, I'm afraid you might have to. But it won't be long, I promise." She hugs him.
Matt cries. "Mom. Please... Where's Luke..?"
Maddie looks at Matt. "He's actually waiting outside to see you."
Luke walks in and Matt's mom decides to leave them two to be. They instantly hug.
Luke screams. "MATT!!" He sobs. "Jesus, are you okay...?"
Matt hugs him with all his remaining strength. "Yes, now that you're here.."
Luke tries to find air and gasps between his words. "I'm.. So.. Sorry.. I shouldn't have.. Left you with.. Jordan.."
Matt cries. "It's okay, it's not your fault.. You don't have to apologize.. All that matters is that we're together now."
Matt hugs Luke by the neck and looks into his eyes, wiping his tears. The tension (the tension) between them increases and they feel themselves leaning into eachother..
They kiss.
