"Renata, will you hurry up?"

"Give me two seconds!" She shouts, slamming the door of their car. She turns towards Seth will a sour expression, slinging a bookbag over her shoulder. "I have to get your stuff, remember?"

"What is taking you two so long?" The third member of their party, Benji, sticks his head out the decaying front door, his blonde hair shining in the light provided by the golden street lamp. "We're losing daylight! If we miss this because you two are sucking face-"

"The next time someone gets on to me for doing what you want me to do, I will scream." Renata warns. She pushes past both of them, roughly slamming her shoulder into their sides as she steps by. They share a look of amusement, following her into the decrepit house.

"Hello, hello."

Renata clutches her chest as the housekeeper steps into the entryway, their steps disembodied from their voice. She turns towards them as her heart continues to race, blowing out a shaky breath when she realizes it's only a human approaching her. "Christ, you scared me."

"Scaring easily is something you don't want to do in this house," the groundskeeper smiles.

"That's not concerning at all."

"What's not concerning?" Seth steps into the house, closing the door behind him. The wooden door snaps against the frame, making her jump again. "Are you scared already?"

She scoffs. "No."

"She is." Benji counters.

"Am not."

The housekeeper chuckles at their childish banter. "Whatever you do tonight, continue joking like you are. It's the only way you'll make it out sane."

"What?" Seth laughs. "Holy shit."

"Yeah, this house is no joke." She motion towards the living room. "Why don't we sit down and I'll tell you about it?"
