author's note: Will Jeong stay with the group?

Jeongin cowered and stepped back. I was so shocked I didn't know what to say. "What? " I questioned Irene. "I asked if you're sure you're not infected. Hey, who the hell brought her here?!" She yelled, slowly growing more angry. "Irene! Why are you being so mean to her? She's my friend! " Jeongin fought back. "Friend? Who cares if she's everyone's best friend? What if she turns into a zombie all of a sudden and kills us? Don't you remember how we were just barely able to get her?! So every time we are out, we are going to bring a friend back? " Irene just couldn't stop. I had no room to talk to defend myself just a little. "Irene. We should help others when we can." Chan said, trying to put an arm on Irene's shoulder. Seungmin nodded. "Yeah, we need survivors." Seungmin speaking up? "Oh, is that right? Then, let's say that's the case." Irene turned her head and glared at me. "So, when do you plan to leave? " She asked, crossing her arms. I didn't know what to say. Chan said I could stay right? "Well, you've been saved. Is there anything else you need from us? " What was she going on about? She continued to cut me off. "We're running out of food, and every time we go outside, we risk our lives to find more. We're not exactly in a place to help others. Am I right? " I guess that made sense. "Isn't she right? We can't just bring people here and drain our resources. I think we should send her out." Now the tall one too? Their hostility towards me made me nervous. How naive of me to think I had met nice people. "Are you insane? Don't you know what it's like out there? " Jeongin protested, looking at Chan. "I don't think it's such a terrible idea to let her stay." The pretty girl spoke up. I really need to get her name. It didn't seem like they'd come to an agreement. Chan thought for a moment before tapping me on the shoulder. Then he drew everyone's attention. "You seem to have something to say right? " He looked at me with such a kind face waiting for me to say something. "Um, yeah." I replied, looking around at all the stares. "Oh my god. You've got to be kidding me! Do you like her or something Chan? Why are you taking her side? " Once again I was interrupted. "That's enough Irene." The shorter guy spoke, who hadn't said a work interrupted Irene and looked at me. What should I do? Right, I have to explain myself. "Once you are infected, The symptoms arise within an hour." This should prove myself right? If I was infected, I would have shown symptoms already. Seungmin nodded. "She isn't infected." He brought his baseball bat down to his feet, looking around at everyone in the room. "How do you know it can't take longer? " Can Irene just be quiet for once? "I know you guys don't want me here, but I promise I can make myself useful." Irene scoffed and frowned, while the other looked intrigued. "Before I met you guys- I found some food." That's right! That should be helpful. I remembered what Irene said about the food. "Spit it out." The tall long haired guy said. "I'm not going to hold you guys back, I promise! I'm really thankful you guys helped me out there. I'll make sure to not put you in danger like that. Also-" Still feeling nervous, I took a deep breath and looked around. My eyes met with Felix's, whose warm smile gave me the courage to continue. "I've got enough food for us." I opened my bag and showed them the food. "I can run pretty fast, too. I can really take care of myself. Trust me! I'll help you search for more food too, so. Could I- stay here with you guys? " Did I convince them? I felt parched after speaking so nervously. I noticed Irene's lips spread into a smile. Did she change her mind? "You expect me to believe that? " She added, giving me an eye roll. I sighed as I realized we were back at square one. How could I convince her when she wouldn't even listen to me? Do I really have to go back out there? Going back to being all alone, sleeping in empty buildings? It would be tough all by myself. "Man- you guys aren't gonna let me sleep, are you? What's up with all this noise? " It was Minho. He swung the door open and stomped into the room. "You are so full of it! " He sighed. "See? Minho thinks so too-" Irene tried to butt in. "I was talking about you, Irene." Minho looked at Irene. Seeing the way her looked at her gave me goosebumps. "What? " She asked. "Don't you remember when you first came here? You were begging us, to please believe, that you were not infected. Don't you remember? " Irene looked shocked at his words. That means Minho was able to hear everything we said? Minho grinned and sat at the corner of one of the classroom tables. "Why are you bringing that up now? That's in the past and doesn't relate to what Irene's worried about right now. Also I agree with Irene, how can we trust her? " Are you kidding me? Who does this tall blondie think he is? Jeongin looked shocked at his words. "Of course we can't be sure of anything right now. But guys, think about it for a moment. Like it or not, we are in this together. We have to trust each other. If we make anyone leave, we might face greater danger later." Every time the short guy talked, he seemed to always think before saying. "I agree. It wouldn't hurt to just wait and see? To find out who she really is. I think she's no harm to us. We'll find out for sure if we spend more time together." Felix finished with a smile. "Are you saying we should all risk our lives for this random girl? " Come on Irene. "Yes, because we are all human. We care." Seungmin pointed out, receiving a glare from Irene that did not phase him. "That's right. We are nothing like those mindless zombies out there." The short guy spoke once again. Seungmin slowly looked at me. He wasn't smiling, but something about him was reassuring. "What's up with all the drama in here?" Han walked in through the opened door. I was sure he would prefer if I left. "We were just discussing whether to send the new girl back out." Back again with the tall blonde. He seemed to be the opposite of the shorter guy with the way he spoke. "Why? " Han asked. "Well, you never know if she's infected. Plus we don't have enough food. We know nothing about her, she might betray us later." Are you kidding me? I'm so close to kicking this guy in the knee, I'm the perfect height too. "What's the big deal? We're all going to die soon anyway." Han replied, he seemed to have little care about the subject. "You're not even remotely worried?!" Irene snapped at him. I swear I could have seen steam leave her body. "Just mind your own life. Who cares who stays here or not? " I think this is the nicest thing Han said to me? He seemed a bit annoyed, but I was surprised at his response. That was completely unexpected. I thought he didn't want me here. Chan clapped his hands to get everyone's attention. "Looks like we have a few different opinions. How about we vote on this? " He suggested. Vote? I wondered if I had any chance to make it. My hands started to shake. There was no guarantee I wouldn;t be voted out. I lowered my head at the thought of what would happen.
"Man, is this really necessary? " Han asked. "Not a bad idea!" Minho chipped in. "Voting? Sounds fair. I know everyone's totally with me on this. You guys just don't want to say it out loud." Of course that's what Irene would think. "What? I don't think this is a voting matter. We can think of alternatives. Like, we can let her stay in a different room the first night or, something-" Felix, added. I took it to heart that seemed concerned. "You know what they say, the majority rules." Chan replied. It was that gentle voice I had heard before. But somehow it sounded so cold now. My eyes met with Chan's. I felt the warmth in his eyes looking at me. Could he have been telling me all was well? "Seungmin, want to give me a hand? " Chan asked, getting a nod in response. "Make up your mind until we get back. So you don't regret your choices." Chan took a look around the classroom and went out to the hallway with Seungmin. "Is there even any need to think about it? " Irene gave me a cold eye as she spoke. I turned my head around to see what the other guys were doing. I could hear my heart pounding.
