"I know there's no meeting tonight, but. I've asked you all here 'cause there's something important I wanted to discuss." Chan spoke out in the classroom. Something important. I know it's about Jeongin and I don't feel good about it. "Hey, it's past our bedtime." Minho replied. "What is it?" Changbin asked, ignoring what Minho said. "Did something happen?" Felix asked. Jisung sat quietly. I guess it's also pretty hard for Jisung since Jeongin is his partner. "Jeongin has been missing since the patrol this morning. Has anyone seen him?" Chan broke the silence. "Not me." Minho replied. "You know what, he is pretty loud but I haven't heard him today." Tzuyu answered. No one has seen him. Except for me.. but I only saw him this morning when we exchanged greetings. Irene snaps at me again. "I knew this would happen. I told you there's something suspicious about her." She bluntly says. "Maybe he ran away." Hyunjin suggested. "No, he didn't tell me anything about running away." I replied. "Do you usually let people know before you run away?" He asked. "No I mean he wouldn't do anything to make people worry! He's not like that!" I snapped. "Then how come you have no idea where he went?" Irene blurted out. I clenched my teeth. Jeongin where are you? "Ever since you came here, all these weird things are happening. Do you know that? That's all because of you!" I'm standing with my head down not knowing what to say at Irene's accusations. She's right. Strange things have been happening around here. But what about what I experienced? How can anyone explain that? "Hey, this isn't the time for any arguments! Fighting doesn't solve the problem." Felix added on. "I could fight her out of this group." Irene replied. "Will you cut it out! We're talking about a missing person here!"Felix snapped at her. "Gee. I know. But you guys are missing something here. Who is Jeongin's roommate? Does anyone remember?" An awkward silence fills the classroom. I find people looking at me. "You're saying she caused this? Hahaha!" Minho cracks up as he had just heard the funniest joke. "Why would someone who loves being with other people hurt their own friend?" Jisung asked. "Yeah, I don't see any reason and I don't want to suspect anyone without reasonable justification." Felix added. "We can't just pin it on her while there are so many other possibilities to explain his disappearance." Changbin added. Seungmin nodded. Irene scrunched her face. When she's about to say something, Chan interrupts her. "We could start the search but, I'm afraid it's too dark outside and I can't have any of us take chances." It's brutal but true. As for how vital Jeongin is to me, so are everybody's lives and I can't ask them to risk it. But I can't help picturing Jeongin lost somewhere, trembling in fear. I sigh deeply. "But we can't just sit here and do nothing about it either." Chan brings it up, and I look up. "I've saved some emergency flashlights." He mentions. "How come you never mentioned this before?" Jisung asks. "There are not enough batteries, so I wanted to save them for something urgent. I've got two, let's team up and search outside this building. But don't go too far. Our search parameters are within the fences. And stay together." Chan looks at me and gives me a sign. I nod in response. "Alright, so we already got one person for the team. Any other volunteers? I'm looking for three to four more?" Chan asks. "I'll go." Seungmin volunteers without hesitation. I feel grateful for his offer. "Count me out. Can't be her next victim you know." Irene chips in. "S-sorry, I don't think I can." Tzuyu muffles. "I'm not really into walking around late at night." Han replied. "I'm in. She's not too reliable on her own." I'm surprised to see Minho volunteer, but Irene puts his hand down. She holds onto his arm and shakes her head. By the look on her face, I can tell she's scared. Minho looks at her and mouths 'what?' and then he sighs. "Fine! I take it back, she's too scared for me." He changes his answer. "Minho!" Irene lets out. "I'm not sure if I can be really helpful but I'll come if you want." Changbin chips in. "Okay then, I guess that makes four of us including myself." Chan smiles and puts up his arm. Chan is always so reliable. Felix puts his arm halfway up before slowly raising it down. "Shall we get ready then?"
