Chapter 5: Past Lives

Aliaan *pouting*: " You've never told me, but you're telling them?"

Maya: " Ok, this man has been spoiled for 45 years" *realizes something* " Uh, before you begin what's your life expectancy on Aaraa?"

Aliaan: " Around 130 years on average"

Everyone's jaws drop down except the extraterrestrials of course.

Ziri: " So what's the maximum someone has lived there?" 

Aliaan: "There are people we call Elders, they're not the average human, so they transcend the common folk, the oldest one is 191 years, some expect her to live till 200"

Thiyya: " That's incredible but I'm more curious about the past lives!"

Maanaa:" Here we go: My first life on earth, I was born an ugly woman, my father sold me as a slave at 9 for a jug of liquor. I was treated worse than a pig, worked day and night, got beaten, and was so skinny my bones almost popped out of my skin. Then was buried alive with my master when he died, I was 26, they believed  I would serve him in the afterlife, big fools!"

Luz:"  That sounds horrible!"

Maanaa: " Most humans have experienced such lives"

Thiyya: " And we still are, maybe not exactly like that but in some other twisted way"

Maya: " you said you had 3 lives, do continue, please"

Maanaa:" In My second life, I decided to be a boy, I was intelligent and quick-witted, and I learned alchemy and sorcery, I decided to become a high priest, I was so bright and excellent among the students that I caught the high priest's attention, he took a liking to me. I got so excited thinking I will learn great things from him but he took me to his chambers and played with my body, I was 15 then when he assaulted me to death, my poor parents lost their minds trying to find out the truth, but they died in ignorance."

Maya: " I'm starting to see why you hate Earth, this one sounds like ancient Egypt! What intrigues me is you say, ' I decided to be a boy'"

Luz * tearing*: " It's always the priests and the boys, this makes me too angry"

Maanaa: " You don't have to cry for me, it's all gone now with the wind, and yes, Maya, before we are born in another life we choose where to be born and what to learn, in the higher realm, the Omni-dimensional realm"

Aliaan: " I can see now why most humans and non-humans see Earth as a wretched place"

Ziri: " I can't believe our ego was so big we thought we were the only ones in this unimaginably vast universe, let alone the multiverse! Maanaa please continue!"

Maanaa: " In my third life, I decided to be a beautiful intelligent woman. I was so curious about the world around me and how it works, my mother worked for a rich family and I helped her, I learned to read and write by spying on their kids while they learned. I truly loved sciences, nature, collecting medicinal herbs, and philosophy and soon I developed my own philosophy about the unfair world I lived in, I was opinionated and spoke up my mind, I defended the weak but that ultimately led me to my doom. I was hanged for the crime of witchcraft at the age of 23."

Maya: " That sounds like the early modern period, I have to say your 3 lives sucked, I hope this one is much better"

Maanaa: " I was hurt so much by this place, I decided to never live here again, but I guess I had some unfinished business, some lessons to learn which is why I came back here even in this form"

Thiyya: " You keep saying in this form but you look like us."

Aliaan: " Not quite, we can show you later"

Thiyya: " I feel threatened by that remark for some reason"

Ziri: " But honestly though, I'm glad I don't remember any of my past lives"

Maanaa: " You only have one! "

Ziri: " Wait! how do you know that?"

Maanaa: " I met you in a previous life, you were far too naive, a baby soul, but you were kind and helped many people, your soul grew faster than most."

Ziri:" I love your stories but I am still skeptical about the whole reincarnation thing."

Luz and Thiyya: " Yeah.."

Maanaa: " Understandable, if I were you I would react the same way, it's not easy to grasp at once, that we are all in fact one with the universe, the original one at least, and that we are stars coming to life and experiencing ourselves within ourselves and with other pieces of ourselves, it's even hard for us to accept."

Aliaan: " And we don't even see other dimensions that more advanced civilizations do, it is said the God civilizations are all-knowing, we have yet to reach that level"

Maya: " Do you think there's a god?"

Aliaan: " It depends on what you mean by a god, you can say God simultaneously exists and doesn't exist, in a sense a god that never came to existence cannot exist within the cosmos or the multiverse, but a god that came to the existence or brought itself into existence can exist within the cosmos or  it could be the cosmos itself and everything within it that is experiencing itself is a god, it's a complicated topic, some say the original God civilization is the true God but no one knows for sure."

Luz: " That is way too complicated for me, I feel a cramp in my damn brain!"

Ziri: " Same!"

Thiyya: " I honestly  need to think this through, I feel like something was set free in my brain like some neurons finally connected!"

Maya: " I have thought about this before, and heard people talking about this but not entirely in that sense, this is a fresh take. I love these conversations, although, I must say, Aliaan, I took you for an idiot, at least compared to Maanaa, my apologies."

Aliaan * in utter shock and awkwardness": " What?! I don't know if this is a compliment or an insult, your facial expressions are quite bland for me to read."

Maya: " Neither, it's an apology!"

Aliaan gets visibly irritated while blushing, while the others secretly giggle at his reactions and Maya's bluntness.

Luz: " Enough about this now, my brain is getting saturated, can you two show them your wings? and Maanaa, how you built all of this in seconds"

Maanaa: " Now? Do you think they're ready?"

Luz: " I wasn't ready either, plus, I don't want them to think I'm making this shit up and most importantly, I want to see it with them so I can finally confirm, I'm not crazy!"

Aliaan: " Ok, here we go, our wings are designed to protect us from high temperatures and we evolved to using them to fly and hide, that's why you didn't see them before"

Thiyya, Ziri, and Maya stand in utter shock and mesmerization by the beautiful sparkly transparent extraterrestrial wings, it is unlike anything they've ever seen, not even in drawings, not even in CGI.

As the four friends take a closer look at the wings, someone suddenly and aggressively knocks on the door and rings the bell. 

Luz panics as she tries to quickly hide the extraterrestrials and any evidence of them ever being in her apartment.

Who could it be? and what do they want?
