•Chapter Three•

The hotel room One Direction rented out was on the first floor, which meant two good things.

1) Not a lot of running required.

2) If I have to climb out the window next time, it won't be a long drop to the ground.

When I enter the lobby, I'm slightly taken aback by the beauty of the thing. Crystal chandeliers hang from the ceiling. Monstrous windows are perched delicately upon the walls with golden wallpaper. The carpet underneath my tired feet is a soft, red velvet. I find myself thinking of food.

My thoughts are interrupted by shouts. I glance behind me to see Niall coming from the stairs. He spots me, shouts back up the stairs (telling the rest of his buddies that he found me, no doubt) and continues running after me. I run out the glass front doors and into the sounds and sights of a city.

As I look around, I realize something. We're in London, Ontario. My hometown.

I smile, realizing that I can get back home. Well, I might go to another place, since One Direction knows where I live. I think immediately of my best friend, Jade, and decide on her house. She's like the sister I never had; she'd obviously let me stay. And her mom is like my second mother. She'd let me stay as well.

I hear the door open from behind me and someone's grabbing my waist. Cursing myself for dawdling on my thoughts, I struggle to get out of their grasp. I manage and begin to run down the sidewalk, avoiding random pedestrians.

I hear screams of joy and look over my shoulder to see a huge crowd of fans. One Direction will be slowed down by their fans, so I can buy a few minutes.

I walk into a Tim Horton's and wait in line, checking my pockets. Luckily, I still have a $20 bill I won from a bet at school. I order a small coffee and a chocolate doughnut. The cashier hands over my order while I give her the bill in return. She gives me my change, bids me a good day and moves on to the next customer.

I sit down, taking a bite of my doughnut. I glance out a window and see Niall and Louis walking, looking for me. I choke a bit on my doughnut and have a coughing fit. I slide away from the window, shoving the rest of my doughnut in my mouth and chewing quickly. Then I gulp down my coffee, its heat burning the back of my throat.

The door jangles open and the two boys walk in, taking in the surroundings. I hastily put up the hood of my blue hoodie and make my way to the exit. To my amazement, Niall and Louis don't recognize me and let me pass without a question.

Once I'm back outside, I start to run again. The wind tears my hood off and I don't bother putting it back up. As I pass the final window of Timmy's, I glance inside to see Niall and Louis pushing the exit door open and sprinting as fast as they can to try and catch me. Luckily, I was on the track team for three years straight and I never missed any of the practices. I glance back to see Louis and Niall stop. The both pull out their phones and I'm guessing they're alerting the rest of the boys that they know where I'm headed. I turn a corner and they're out of my sight.

Slowing down slightly, I turn into an alley to catch my breath. I make my way silently down the alley, glancing over my shoulder to see if the boys have caught up to me yet. Each look shows me the same answer: No, they haven't. I grin to myself as I pull out of the alley and walk casually down the sidewalk.

I've successfully run away from One Direction, I think to myself. I glance behind me and my heart sinks. I see Harry walking, head down and phone in his hands. I nervously pull my hood up and stick my hands in my pocket.

"Hey!" I hear someone yell. I look back to see, of course, Harry pushing his way through the walking pedestrians on the sidewalk to get to me.

I turn into another alley that twists and turns, hoping to lose him. It doesn't work. As I glance back for the last time, Harry grabs my wrist. I yank it out of his grasp and start running. All I can hear is my feet hitting the pavement each time and my heart beating in my ears.

I don't-no, I won't-go back to the hotel with them. At least, not without a fight.

As I reach the exit of the alley, two people cut me off. The two people are Liam and Zayn. I gulp and turn to see if there's any possible way I could get past Harry. There's not. Along with him are Louis and Niall. They've formed a plan to make sure I don't escape.

I glance around desperately, hoping for a way not to go back to the hotel. I spot a ladder on the side of a building and jump for it. I place my shaky foot on the first rung, but someone grabs me by the waist and throws me over their shoulder.

"Well, well, well," says the person. It's Harry. "Someone's in trouble."
