Chapter 8

•Chapter Eight•

(Jade's POV)

"Hello love," Liam says in that dreamy British accent I've dreamt of for so long. "Could we come in?"

I'm about to say "yes of course!" when I remember that they kidnapped Ivy.

"Sorry." I smile apologetically. "Mom doesn't like strangers in the house."

Niall looks at me. "Your mom is home?"

His sexy accent makes me melt inside and my legs turn to jelly; I grasp on to the door to stop me from collapsing.

"Yes, yes she is," I say. Ugh, I feel so bad lying to them!

"Then why are there no cars in the lane way?" Niall asks.

"Oh, uh, we only have one car and dad took it to work," I say.

"We're looking for someone," Liam says.

"You are?" I try to act and sound surprised. "Why are you looking here?"

"Because we're looking for Harry's cousin, Ivy Rose," Niall explains. Oh, now they're lying to me back? Two can play at this game. "We thought she might be here since you two are best friends-"

"Forever with no exception!" I finish for him. He just stares at me. "Sorry." I blush.

(Ivy's POV)

What's taking Jade so long? The doorbell rang a couple minutes ago; it can't take that long to talk to someone.

(Niall's POV)

It's pretty obvious Jade's lying to us. We stalked her a bit, too, whenever Ivy went over. We know her mom and dad both work weekdays; we know they have two vehicles. But we still don't know if Ivy is actually there or not.

(Liam's POV)

I glance over at Niall. He seems to know what he's doing and I don't want to interrupt, so I stay quiet.

(Ivy's POV)

I walk quietly down the hall. I hear voices, but I can only recognize Jade's.

I walk farther down the hall, but I stay hidden. What if Jade got a boyfriend and they're busy chatting? I wouldn't want to interrupt that.

I duck down behind Jade's coat rack and peer around it to see who she's talking to. I wish I didn't.

At the door is Liam and Niall. They've come for me.

I accidentally lean too much against the coat rack and end up falling over along with it. I look up to see Liam, Niall and Jade all staring down at me; Niall and Liam look like they just found a lost pet; Jade looks as she stole their lost pet and now she's busted for taking it.

Jade recovers quicker than the boys, I'm happy to say.

"Well, er, nice meeting you two!" Jade says brightly. "Toodle-oo!" Then she shuts the door and locks it as the boys start banging their fists against it.

"Ivy!" Jade exclaims, hurrying over to me. "Are you ok?"

"I'm fine," I say, "as long as I don't have to go back with Liam and Niall."

"I'll do my best to keep them from taking you," Jade says, sounding determined. "Now, quick! Go out back, climb over the fence and hide in the big bush."

"Wait, what will you do?" I ask.

"I'll be distracting them," Jade says, and winks. "Now go!"

I obey and sprint as fast as I can to her yard and over her fence.
