I had a Biology final bright and early on Tuesday morning, leaving me to fill in little bubbles on a Scantron half-asleep. God knows I did terrible, but according to my calculations (and my calculations are almost always right), I should be able to scrape by with a C.

I had two other finals proceeding Biology and after finishing my French final, I took my ass directly back home and collapsed into bed for the longest nap of my life.

Wednesday was my last day of finals; praise my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Calculus was first and without even studying, I was the first one to finish the exam. I made a few snide remarks to Mr. Steinbeck to put a fabulous end to the semester, in which he scowled at me. I successfully evaded Kade since he still had about one-fourth of his exam to finish. Kade and I haven't spoken since that fateful late Monday night, and I intend to keep it that way for as long as possible.

I finished my fitness test for P.E., a huffing and puffing mess. Thankfully, I had about an hour to recuperate before I dragged myself to my Lit final. I was third to last and winced softly when I placed the stabled packet on top of the pile. Hopefully, I don't have to retake that class or I'll actually yeet myself off the top of this building. Not to mention, Kade will be very disappointed in my performance. Both in training and in Lit.

Fucking Kade. The last person I want to contemplate about. But also, the first and only thought on my mind.

I'm lost so deeply in my own thoughts that I nearly jump a foot in the air when I hear the familiar high-pitched voice of Elise calling my name.

I whip around to face her, anger rushing over me like a tidal wave. Not only am I pissed that she borderline betrayed me, but also because she snuck up on me and nearly gave me a heart attack.

"What?" I snap. Elise flinches back from my glare but I've stopped caring about her feelings when she decided to go behind my back.

"Are you done with your finals?" she asks meekly, unable to meet my eyes.

"What's it to you?" I scoff, turning back around.

Elise grabs the cloth of my sweater between one of her hands to stop me from leaving. "Wait!"

I huff and cross my arms over my chest. "Why don't you scurry off to your new group of friends?"

Elise's lower lips quivers and she says shakily, "That's what I wanted to talk about."

"Oh, so you finally fit me into your busy schedule?" I arch a brow and place a hand to my chest. "I'm honored."

"Please Parker," she begs, tears filling her hazel eyes.

I sigh when her big doe eyes bore into my own. She's guilt tripped me and it's working.

"Fine," I say, clipped. "But you better have a damned good explanation."
