Nobody's Business

Chapter Two

They get into town early the next day and everyone goes their separate ways.  Shyla gets in the car with D and gives her car to Beanie man.  D takes her to her mother's house and she gets one of her bags and gets out, then D drives off. Shyla walks up to her mother's house and rings the doorbell.

 "Who is it?" Rachel calls from inside the house.

 "It's me Ma."

 Rachel opens the door for her daughter. "Hey baby." They embrace and then Shyla walks in and puts her things down.

 "That's all you got is one bag?" Rachel asked wondering how Shyla fit all of her clothes in the small bag.

 "No, I left the other one in my friend's car," Shyla said. She did not bother to mention D because her family did not know about him.

 "Oh, how long are you stayin'?"

 "Two weeks."

 "You been gone for three years and all you stayin' for is two weeks?" Rachel says to her daughter wondering why she can't stay for the whole month.

 "Maybe I'll come back before schools starts back."

 Shyla sits around talking to her mother and then she goes into her old room to go to sleep. She wakes up to someone hitting her legs.

 "Man what the heck," Shyla opens her eyes to see who is disturbing her sleep.

 "Oh so you was just gone come home and not tell nobody." Her friends Tyesha, Leshua, and Sabrina said in unison.

 "I was gone surprise ya'll when I woke up." Shyla said half sleep.

 Leshua hits her. "Get up man we need to go out on the town."

 "Yeah, we need to show you all the new hot spots." Sabrina said.

 Tyesha chimed in. "Yeah, you done forgot all about the Chi."

 "Oh, Shut up, ain't nothing changed." Shyla tells them.

 They finally drag Shyla out the bed and take her around town; they take her into the clubs and introduce her to a couple of their new friends. There are a couple of guys who give her their number; whether she keeps it or not, they'll never know.  They stay at Shyla's house that night catching up on old times.  She fills them in on all the things that are going on in Atlanta, but she doesn't mention D.  Shyla is careful to never mention D to her family and friends, and she always dodges the 'who are you dating now' questions. 

 Her friends decide that they are going with her back to Atlanta and she tries to make an excuse because if they come D will leave the house, and she doesn't know if he really needs to be by himself right now.

 "What you don't want us at your house?" Sabrina says.

 "Ya'll can come, but I just need to check my schedule." Shyla said trying to stall.

 "Yeah right this the summer you ain't got no schedule." Leshua said to her best friend wondering why she was acting suspicious.

 "You don't know what I got, so shut up ugly." Shyla said to her friend teasingly.

 "You ugly and I'm coming to yo house, and I don't care what you got on your schedule." Leshua stated.

 "Yeah and we coming too so now." Tyesha said speaking for her and Sabrina.

 Her friends spend the night and they spend time catching up what's been going on in each other's life.

 The next day, Beanie man calls Shyla. "Hello." Shyla says half sleep.
