Not long after my mother's death, I found my mother's journal and had the opportunity to read about her journey being married to an alcoholic. Mattie's mother in the story was a character I molded after her. Her journal was the outline for this story. I know she would have loved it. The beginning of each chapter is an excerpt from the pages of her journal. I hope you are dancing in Heaven, Momma. To the beautiful Susan....earth only had you for a little while, but Heaven will keep you in its embrace forever.
