Aizawa had blessed Akari(who was a bit confused at first)with a set of ear plugs before they went into the announcers box. As the beginning announcements started, Akari could see why he was handed them.
"GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYBODY! IT'S YER BOI PRESENT MIC HERE WITH MY LOVELY FRIEND AND COLLEAGUE ERASUREHEAD."
Akari had scrambled to put the ear plugs in after the first word that came out of the mans mouth. He expected Present Mic to be loud, but partially using his quirk while over a ginormus speaker box was enough to cause him to hear ringing. PM had his own announcement cards in front of him along with students information for when it was time for them to be recognized. He hardly read over the beginning speech cards since he does the same thing every year. Only thing he changes are the students and dad jokes(very bad dad jokes).
Akari lost interest during the part where students were given details on the activities they had to do. The R-Rated hero:Midnight was the festival host who stood on a platform above all the students. There were a bunch of first years down on the field, so this first part, and obstacle course, was something he wouldn't put his attention on right now. What he did do was being focused on how close his chair was to Aizawa's.
As soon as they had walked into the anouncement box and sat down at the table that held the electronic controls for the stadium,Aizawa had grabbed ahold of the arm of his chair to pull him closer. His hand stayed on the arm right after. Akari sat there staring at it for a good few minutes before relaxing a little bit. He didn't know where his touchiness was coming from, it was out of no where. The male hasn't really been in an actual relationship before, or has been flirted with so he didn't know if these advances were friendly or something more.
The obstacle course had begun a few minutes ago. Camera drones had footage plastered of serveral big screens for the audience to view. Both Aizawa and Present Mic had commented on the race. Present Mic was more into the "super cool" quirks a few of the students had while Aizawa was getting into the more critical thinking some of the students were doing for specific spots. He mainly focused on the top students that seemed to keep a steady place on the ranks. His class of heroes was the ones who seemed to be doing the most progress overall.
Akari could see his cousin struggling a bit on the obstacle course from the few times the camera zoned in on him. His quirk wasn't really meant for this kind of thing. Especially when he would short circuit if he used it too much in one go. The thing about their quirks was although they had electricity flowing through their veins, too much would be the equivalent of blowing a fuse when you have too many chords on one outlet. The blonde would tap someone on the shoulder with his quirk barely flowing, causing the opponent to be paralyzed for a few seconds allowing him to go ahead of a few people. It was good to see Denki doing so well for being out of his element.
He could see Mina in one of the drones. Her movements were smooth as she glided across the path with her acid quirk. Almost like she was ice skating. She would jump in the air or do what looked like dance moves when she got to a spot that needed it. He felt bad. He didn't know she actually had a decent quirk other than being a pink alien chick. Even after a whole year of knowing her. The more you know.
"STUDENTS ARE BEGINNING TO ENTER THE LAST PHASE OF THE COURSE. WATCH YOUR STEP OR YOU'RE IN FOR A BUMPY RIDE!"
It was a close call with a few of the students. The three were going on head to head to get into first place. A green haired boy named Midoriya who was apparently quirkless, was using a piece of the giant robots from the first phase of the course as some sort of power booster. He would run as fast as he could and throw the metal over a land mine to propel him passed a blonde kid named Bakugo and a boy with half and half hair named Todoroki. The only reason why he bothered to remember the names was because Aizawa was putting in is input on his students.
It was interesting to hear Aizawa talk about his students in a positive aspect. He had talked about how bad some students were(temper wise. He didn't like when people were disrespectful to him), or that he had expelled and entire class the year before. Based on the way he puts himself, he doesn't really seem like someone who likes kids. But as a Pro-hero and teacher, it's his duty to provide the knowledge they need to become heroes themselves. He really seemed to enjoy it for the most part.
The first activity of the festival ended with Midoriya coming in first place. Akari silently cheered for the boy. He understood the hardships of not having a quirk go rely on for things like this. Although he had a quirk, it wasn't meant for things like hero work. He was a Glowstick. It was very simple yet not very useful in certain situations. It stays activated almost 24/7 showing off his emotions all the time or keeping a room lit in a power outage. And right now, it was the former.
Present Mic had left to use the bathroom once the first break started leaving Aizawa and Akari alone in the announcer box.
"Are you enjoying yourself so far? I know this isn't the most ideal birthday celebration since you have to work later."
"Eh, it's okay. A nice nap in my bed sounds good right about now."
Aizawa chuckled."With how comfy your bed is I wouldn't blame you for wanting to."
They fell into a comfortable silence.
