009: She was mine once (Jirose)

the soft splashing of the waves gave jimin some inner peace. he really needed it after a rough day.

wait, scratch that— every day's a rough one for him. it's always the same shit, different day. he would always visualize his insecurities whenever he saw her, smiling and wrapping her arms around another guy.

was he too chubby? was he not tall enough? was he... ugly? those were the thoughts that kept him up every night, and he's not even bothered by the huge bags under his eyes.

"jimin-ah?" a tall man patted his shoulder.

jimin looked up to see his namjoon-hyung. he had a bag over his shoulder, and a picture frame in his hands.

"are you okay?"

jimin held his tears back, "yeah, i'm fine." his voice cracked, and he lied to his hyung again. dang it, why does he have to be such a crybaby whenever someone asks that question?

a tear rolled down his cheek, and namjoon couldn't help but to hug the younger. patting his back, namjoon made the younger lean on his buff chest. "tell me what's wrong, jiminie."

"i," jimin hiccuped, "i miss her, hyung." he sobbed on joon'e chest. he was desperate for someone who can hug him close, and finally, someone had made him slightly better. kim namjoon.

"i know, jiminie, but you have to let her go. she... she loves someone else now." namjoon hesitated but said it anyway, so jimin can already face the harsh reality.

laughter can be heard nearby, and it sounded too familiar to jimin and namjoon. "let's head home, yeah? jin-hyung and jisoo-ssi has cooked something delicious at the dorms." namjoon quickly stood up and pulled jimin with him. he knows that she's here with that other man, and he doesn't want jimin to see it.

"baby, that was such a great shot! i love you so, so much!" her sweet voice broke jimin's heart, knowing that she wasn't referring to him anymore. she's happy with mark now.

namjoon's phone rang, and it grabbed the attention of the couple from the docks. jimin and his past lover locked eyes, and it was torture for him to see no more spark in her eyes when they looked at each other.

"yoongi-hyung, we're on our way, so calm your ass down." namjoon hung up and pulled jimin's sweater to head to their car.

oh wait, namjoon didn't have a license yet, so he brought his bike instead. jimin came to the beach with his bike, as well, so it's pretty convenient for the both of them.

"hey, jimin!"

please, don't come near me, jimin thought.

"jimin-ah, it's been a long time." she stood in front of him.

jimin forced a smile, "yeah, i know." he shortly says and quickly pulled his bike away from her. "hyung's waiting for me, so i'll get going now." he sat on his bike and showed her a faint smile. "bye, chaeyoung."

namjoon's heart clenched at the sight. his voice sounded to hurt and broken. "let's go, jiminie."

and with that, they both pedaled their way home.

"jimin, i need to talk to you." chaeyoung sternly stated.

jimin smild widely and held his girlfriend's hand. "go ahead, baby."

"let's break up."

those three words created a hole inside his heart. he didn't want to believe it. she still loves him, right? it's all just a big joke.

"f-funny joke, baby." he stuttered, all the negative thoughts invading his head again.

"i'm not joking, jimin." the seriousness of chaeyoung's voice and the lack of nickname made jimin weak on his knees. this wasn't a joke.

he held both her hands tightly when she was about to walk away. "but, why? did i do something wrong? please, talk to me, baby. we can still work this out." he was desperate to save this relationship.

"you don't understand." she yanked his hands away. "i'm in love with someone."

jimin hugged her tightly. "i love you."

"i'm sorry, i've loved mark for a long time now."

as she said those words, she pushed him away.

"i can't believe her!" hoseok slammed his hands on the table. "she has the audacity to show herself after hiding for months? pathetic."

"don't talk bad about her, hyung." jimin laid his head on the table. "chaeyoung's happy now, and i'm happy for her."

"maybe we'll have our happy ending in another timeline or world. this was just not our perfect love story."
