the apartment was dark and quiet, until chaeyoung decided to switch the lights on and watch tv in the middle of the night.

she has been anticipating to watch the final season of her favorite show and she didn't want to miss it so bad. it might cost her an oily face when she wakes up, but she knows that it was going to be worth it.

the walls were super thin, so she heard her neighbors doing their own thing; watching over their kids, cramming, and crying their eyes out.

it didn't even bother her since she's been living with them in this apartment for three years.

chaeyoung's head turned to her small television, her eyes widening when she realized that the show had already ended a few minutes ago. she immediately grabbed her phone and checked the time.

1:51 PM

"how the hell..." her own hand came in contact with her face after realizing that she set the wrong alarm. "great job, chaeng." she sighed and turned the tv off.

wearing her house slippers, chaeyoung decided to grab a glass of water before going back to bed.

her feet dragged her towards the kitchen. she rummaged through her cupboard, only to find plastic cups.

"right, hoseok broke all of my cups and mugs." a frustrated sigh left her lips as she closed the cupboard doors.

chaeyoung finally reached her room with a plastic cup filled with water. she gently laid down the bed, resting her head on the bed's headboard.

she gulped down the whole cup of water before turning the lights off. as she placed her cup on the nightstand, it accidentally fell on the floor.

"why am I so unlucky tonight," chaeyoung sighed, getting off her bed to pick the cup up.

the moment she bent down to grab the cup, she made eye contact with a pair of eyes under her bed. she jumped and her butt landed hard on the floor.

it hurt, but chaeyoung was more focused on the figure that slowly emerged from her bed. it looked like a human.

"how did you get in my apartment?" chaeyoung questioned it. "i'm calling the police-"

"nobody wants me, not even you, huh." it let out a disapproving scoff.

chaeyoung's hand slowly made its way to the light switch, turning it on so she can have a proper look at its face. the room lit up, finally revealing the person or creature under her bed.

it was a guy; a pale and sad guy. he had a frown on his face as he held his hands together. he immediately looked away and covered his face when chaeyoung stared at him in confusion.

"leave." chaeyoung pointed at her door. "i'll let you go and if you won't, i'm gonna call the police."

"i... i live here." he looked down.

chaeyoung was in shock. how long has this guy been living in her apartment? it gave her major goosebumps.

"just how long have you been living here, huh? have you been watching me shower or change my clothes? are you a pervert?" she stabbed a finger at his direction, stepping forward as he continuously stepped back. "why aren't you answering-"

"please, don't touch me!" he hid under the bed once again and hugged his knees together. "i don't wanna leave, this is my home."

her eyes widened after realizing that she made him cry. she was about to hold his hand but he kept on backing up. "i'm sorry, um, mister." she bit her lip in guilt. "can we talk properly after you calm down? i'll serve you some juice."

the guy slowly removed his hands from his face, his tears smothered all over the place. he nodded and wiped the tears away.

"c-can you move away a little?" his voice was soft and shaky.

chaeyoung immediately maintained her distance and waited for him to get up. she had a lot of questions right now, but she wanted to know why he didn't want any type of contact.

he looked so vulnerable in his state and it somehow broke her heart.

thw two stared at each other awkwardly and judging from the way he kept on fidgeting with his fingers, chaeyoung knew that he was nervous.

"so, um, i'm park chaeyoung." she started off. "what's your name?"

he shyly looked away, "park jimin."

"nice to meet you, jimin." chaeyoung smiled and offered her hand for a handshake. she felt uneasy when jimin only stared at her hand. she immediately took it back and looked away in embarrassment.

"shall we continue this conversation in my kitchen?" she hoped that he would agree or she'd feel embarrassed.

luckily, jimin nodded his head and followed her behind.

her kitchen was just near her room, but it felt like they were walking for hours. how awkward.

they sat across each other as chaeyoung placed cup of juice in front of him. she watched him as he slowly took a quick sip of his beverage.

a sigh left her lips. "can you tell me how long you've been here?"

"for eight years." jimin answered.

her eyes widened and she almost spat her juice out. "eight years? you must be joking!" chaeyoung exclaimed as she slammed her hands on the kitchen counter, startling the boy.

"sorry," chaeyoung sunk back down her seat and cleared her throat.

"i'm not a human, miss chaeyoung," jimin gently placed the empty cup down. "i'm a lost spirit that is tied down to this apartment. i used to live here with my girlfriend." his mood dropped down. "until she cheated on me."

chaeyoung felt bad, but it still wasn't a valid reason for him to stay under her bed for years.

"i took my own life that day and i didn't get the chance to cross over." jimin sighed. "that's why i've been staying under your bed since then."

"s-so you've been watching me change my clothes?" chaeyoung was getting way too paranoid. "what am i supposed to do with this information?"

"miss chaeyoung, i've been sleeping under your bed for years." jimin let out a light laugh. "there were times where i would open my eyes... just to hear you sing."

a faint tint of pink spread across chaeyoung's face like a wildfire the moment jimin brought it up. all of the memories of her voice cracking everytime she sang while she was sick were coming back to her.

"that's way too embarrassing!" chaeyoung whined and covered her face. "my voice was probably the reason why i woke you up."

"yeah, it was," chaeyoung was about to screan at his face, "you have a very beautiful voice."

"huh?"

"it made me feel like i was alive again." jimin smiled. "i already knew that your beautiful and soulful voice would match your personality.... and looks."

she doesn't know why it was actually heartwarming to know that he put her personality first instead of how she looks.

"s-stop! you were just crying a while ago, where did this sudden confidence come from?!" at this point, chaeyoung was already stomping her feet on the floor, which will probably bother her downstairs neighbor.

"i used to be a flirty and confident man." jimin poked his cheek with his finger.

"alright, i get it now." chaeyoung finally uncovered her face. "but why are you afraid that i might touch you?"

she could tell that he was taken aback by the question. he quietly shuffled on his seat and clasped his hands.

"the moment a human touches me, i will disappear into nothing. it's a curse."

- to be continued.

Enjoy!!
