'you were a ray of sunshine...
despite living in a world full of darkness.'
chaeyoung wasn't even surprised to see jimin fiddling with the stash of girl magazines on the bottom of her study table. the boy has been staying in her living room for a week now — they were basically roommates.
but despite all the time they've spent together; watching movies, baking, and watering the plants on her balcony, chaeyoung never bothered to ask him about how his life went.
all she knows, is that he had a crazy ex-girlfriend and he was a dance prodigy in his school. in contrast to that, she always told him about her entire biography.
"hey, roomie," chaeyoung whistled.
"yeah, roomie?" jimin turned to her, placing the colorful magazine down.
"can we talk? i've got some a lot of questions to ask."
jimin hummed and sat across her. they never had a serious conversation before, it was all jokes and laughs.
for some reason, chaeyoung feels nervous. she didn't expect him to agree this quickly. she didn't even rehearse how she'll ask him a few personal questions. jimin might get offended and hide.
it happened a lot of times already.
"just... just tell me if the question makes you uncomfortable. i don't want you to hide." she bit her lower lip. jimin just nodded.
heaving a deep sigh, chaeyoung clasped her hands together and stared at his eyes. "why... why did you kill yourself?" she closed her eyes shut, expecting him to run away and hide again.
"why do you want to know?"
her eyes slowly opened, only to see jimin staring back at her with that sad and confused gaze. "i'm sorry, i just... i was just curious, that's all." she looked away, feeling ashamed. how could she ask him that insensitive question.
jimin shrugged and rubbed the tip of his nose with his finger. "my girlfriend cheated on me and her friends sent me death threats. my dance crew kicked me out and replaced me with... your friend."
"my friend? who?" chaeyoung asked him.
"the one that visited you a week ago, jung hoseok." his voice was unexpectedly stable despite the fact that he wanted to cry. "he was also the one that took my girlfriend."
"he ruined my life."
chaeyoung's breath hitched after seeing the dark anf purple veins on jimin's neck, they were almost popping out. "no, hoseok's a good person." she defended. "he wouldn't do that to anyone—"
"how are you so sure?" he glared at her.
"w-what?" her words were stuck on her throat.
jimin had so many things to say about hoseok, yet he chose to be silent. "forget it." he huffed and stood up. "i can sense that he's on your tail, be careful, chaeyoung."
☁️
chaeyoung laid on the cold bedroom floor, staring at jimin's back. he had run off to her bedroom and rolled under her bed.
he's been ignoring her for an hour now and she was going insane. she was getting used to his random blabbering and soothing voice, to the point that she'd get paranoid if she didn't hear him talk.
sighing, she grabbed a pillow from her bed and hugged it. "are you gonna keep on ignoring me like this?" she pouted although he couldn't see it.
chaeyoung knew that he was listening since he shrugged his shoulders. "jimin-ah, i'm sorry if it offended you. i was just getting curious." her whines made him smile. just a small smile. he wasn't too sure.
