"and there they go! the banks-evans duo did it again! that's it everyone! the hawks win 12-4" the commentator yells. everybody began to cheer! the two players skated towards each other on the ice and hugged.
"we did it again adam! another fabulous goal that led to an amazing win!" aria evans said, full of joy. this was one of the many times they led their team, the hawks, to victory. coach rielly named them the star players, which made the rest of the team quite jealous.
"i know! we are awesome!" adam gave her a high five, they enjoyed winning just as any other person would, but when they won together, it felt like a true victory. through teamwork! not anything else of course. they returned to their team, who praised them for helping them win, yet again.
they left the game, happily, and went to get a milkshake at mickey's diner. even though one of the ducks' mom owns it, they couldn't help but love it. they got two vanilla milkshakes, the only flavor both of them liked, strawberry and chocolate weren't flavors they truly enjoyed.
"thanks clara!" the two greeted the waitress. they came often enough where they new all the staff, and they all knew aria and adam. the two often came dressed in their jerseys, which marked the traditional celebratory milkshake after a win. even though they were in district five, and they always lost, everyone there tried to root for the team, but it made it harder to come back from a loss and see aria and adam enjoying themselves.
the staff loved them anyways, they were kind, and always tipped well. it was also interesting to watch them grow up, as they had been coming here since they were little. they used to come with their parents, however they didn't anymore. they were growing up. together. after they finished their milkshakes, paid and tipped, they left, thanking clara for serving them.
"hey wanna come over to my house? we can grab our roller skates after if you want." adam asked the girl. the two had been best friends since they were babies. they were always welcome at each others homes, and no one ever worried about who they were with, or where they were, because they'd always end up with each other.
"definitely!" aria responded. they headed over to his house, directly across from aria's and went inside. the two lived in a richer part of town, so they were really the only kids there. they hated it. both of them just wanted to go out into the more crowded places, and meet kids their age that they wouldn't have met if they stayed home.
"can we watch my girl? all the girls at school are talking about it, and i kinda want to see if they use the song in it." she asked. the truth was, she wanted to fit in with the girls at her school, she didn't have any friends that were girls, sadly. she was the only girl on her team, and all the other girls didn't want to talk to her because she played hockey for the hawks.
adam picked up the tv remote. "sure! you think it's on one of these channels?" he flipped through the channels until they switched to a channel where the movie was playing. they sat together watching the movie. when it was over, the phone started to ring. adam picked it up.
"hello, this is adam banks." he said.
"hi adam, it's me, amy evans, is aria with you?" mrs. evans asked through the phone.
"yes mrs. amy, she's with me. do you need her over for dinner soon?" he knew that she would because that was the only reason she ever called asking about aria.
"i need her home in a little for dinner, but you're welcome to come over and eat with us. are your parents home adam?"
"no thank you mrs. adams, i'm not very hungry right now. my parents are upstairs though. my mom's probably on the other line if you want me to switch you to hers." he said
"oh no adam, that's alright. well, i'll see you soon okay? bye bye!" mrs. evans hung up the phone.
aria began to leave. "bye adam! i'll see you tomorrow okay? you owe me a skate!"
"bye aria! i'll see you. with your skates!" he responded with a laugh. he loved hanging out with her. they were best friends.
