"Techno-Knight? T.K? Hello?" I swear that girl must love messing with people in one way or another. She didn't even give a straight answer!" Glimpse puts the phone down and rests her head on the table. Her old friend Techno-Knight has yet again left her with a vague answer. She lies down on her king-sized bed, throwing her fancy new phone away, and ponders how Techno-Knight's interview went so well, yet her interview went horrifyingly bad? She thinks back to the morning earlier, trying to see what she did wrong.

Glimpse's day starts with her morning routine. She washes her face and combs her silk black hair as she heads down to the dining hall. She chows on a full-course breakfast prepared by only the best of chefs. See, Glimpse here is a member of a dynasty of superheroes dating back to the golden age. Her grandfather was an original founding member of the Coalition of Heroes, and their family has gained an enormous fortune because of this. After finishing her meal, Glimpse takes a rest and proceeds to her personal library, for today is the day of the school interviews hosted by Paladin's Academy.

Hours pass as Glimpse hears a knock on the door. She closes the book and answers the door, only to find her brother in full hero attire standing across from her. "Glance? What are you doing here so early? I thought that you'd be out patrolling right now."

"Well, knowing what day it is today, I wanted to see how you're doing." Glance walks around and leans against the wall. "And, why are you calling me Glance? I doubt anyone would be spying on us right now."

"I'm just trying to get used to the rules of the hero academy. They don't allow calling anyone by their real names." Glimpse retorts as she sits down on a chair next to him.

"Oh, right. Sorry, Glimpse." Glance replies mockingly as he pats Glimpse's head. He walks around the room, grabbing a book from the table. "Shouldn't you get going? Your interview starts at like 10:30." Glance throws the book away and sits on the table across from her. "Why bother with this interview shit anyways? You know mom and dad have their connections; they can easily get you into any hero school you can think of. Hassle-free. Yet you insist on doing things by the book."

"It just doesn't feel right using their connections for my gain. If I get into Paladins, it will be through my own merits."

Glance scoffs, "yeah, you're own merits, look where that got you when you tried for Olympus." Glimpse remains silent and looks away from her brother's gaze. "I say, you're only shooting yourself in the foot by doing this." A beep can be heard from Glance's watch. "I'm gonna get going, and I suggest you do too." Glance leaves Glimpse alone in the library as he runs outside and heads somewhere else.

Glimpse put her head down as her brother's words rang in her head. "Look where that got you." She thinks about the time she applied to other hero schools, such as the fabled Olympus University and the mythical Lionheart. Both times she was rejected. This just made her all the more nervous, as Paladins was the last hero school she could apply to before classes started. For the rest of the day, that's all she hears in her head. Even during the interview, while her ears heard one thing, Glimpse herself listened to another.

That's when she realized it was not her fault.

It was her brother's.
