Bryson shot out of his bed and immediately tripped.
He quickly checks if his legs work.
"Oh thank goodness." He says, getting back up.
'That dream felt too real.' He thinks.
He opens the door to his room and checks the time.

"12:00 pm" He mumbles to himself as he walks to his kitchen.
He grabs a banana from the fridge and sits at his kitchen table.
Bryson was used to this, his sleep schedule has been horrible for the past few days.
He finishes the banana and throws the peel away.
The doorbell suddenly rang and Bryson walked over to see who it was.

It was his friend, Kaden.
Bryson remembers that they were planning on going to a pool later today.
"You ready to go?" Kaden asks, picking up the towel he dropped.
"Just gimme a second, okay?" Bryson responds, running back to his room and grabbing his swim gear.
He opens his garage and walks out.

Kaden waves at him as Bryson closes the garage door.
"Let's go!" Kaden says while walking away and Bryson soon follows.

"So how's life been treating you?" Bryson asks Kaden.
"Eh, could be better honestly." Kaden responds.
"Why's that?"
"Just, life's kinda boring lately."
"Yeah, the days just seem to drag on now."

"Anyways, have you been having weird dreams recently?" Bryson asks.
"Dreams are always weird." Kaden replies.
"But like, extra weird dreams?"
"I had one where I was a dra-"

"I'm really excited to swim." Kaden says.
They both pay the desk person and walk to the locker room.
"Here, locker Five Three Seven." Kaden reads the numbers on the locker.
Bryson and Kaden both change into their swim gear.

They walk into the pool and look around.
There's seats on the left to put towels and extra items, far enough away to not get splashed.
The first area is a child area, a big playground with a slide.
The second area is just a main hub, connecting to most of the other parts of the pool.
Kaden taps Bryson's shoulder.
"Yo, what are you standing here for? Lets go put our towels somewhere." He says.

They walk past the circular pool, the water being pushed to make a whirlpool.
"I think here's good." Kaden says.
They both set down their stuff.
"Where do you wanna start?" Kaden asks.
"Uh, let's just start here?" Bryson points towards the big rectangular pool.

It's cut in fourths, one fourth for normal swimming, another for competitive swimming.
Then two fourths are for the diving boards.
Bryson had gone off the high dive once before.
He didn't like it and was still, kinda scared of it.
Kaden jumps into the normal swimming fourth and Bryson soon follows.

"Dude I missed this!" Kaden says.
"I did as well. We haven't swam here in years." Bryson responds.
They both smile and begin messing around.
Kaden splashes Bryson and they begin water-fighting.
After ten minutes they both stop.

"We have been at war for years, I say we finally have peace." Kaden pretends.
Bryson smiles and stands up straight.
"I can agree, this fighting has hurt both of us." He declares.
They both stare at each other and laugh.
Kaden splashes Bryson one last time.

After a while of swimming and joking, they both get out.
"Where to next?" Bryson asks.
Kaden looks around for a second.
"Let's go to the playground!" He announces.
They walk over.

The playground had decorations on top, with water spraying out of them.
At the very top was a big container, and every so often it'll dump all the water out.
"Okay, I have a challenge for us." Kaden says.
Bryson looks over to him.
"Let's see who can go down the slide the fastest!" He exclaims.

They both try for a while.
Kaden slides down, shooting off the slide and making it to the edge of the pool.
"Beat that!" Kaden boasted.
Bryson grabs onto the bar on the slide's beginning.
He jumps up, using gravity to help him gain speed and rockets down the slide.

Bryson makes it to the edge of the pool as well.
"Welp, guess its a tie." Kaden announces.
He gets up and walks out of the pool.
"Where are you going?" Bryson asks, following him.
"Gotta go use the bathroom." Kaden responds, walking into the locker room.

Bryson stands at the edge of the pool.
"Guess I'll wait for Kaden to come back." He thinks.
He sits on the edge, going back to the dream he had.
"What was I in that dream? The humans called me an Eevee?" He wonders.
"What's an Eevee? Is it a real animal? Probably not."

"What was the other creatures in that story? Why were people making them fight?"
"And why did that dream feel so, real?"
Kaden walking out of the locker room makes Bryson stop thinking about the dream.
"Where should we go now?" Bryson ponders.

"Let's go on the water slide!" Kaden says.
Bryson is about to agree, but notices the container is almost full.
"Wait! The bucket's about to dump, lets do that first." Bryson blurted.
Kaden looks at it and nods.
They walk to where it's gonna pour.

The container begins to tilt and it spills, sending water towards them.
Bryson closes his eyes as the water hits him like a truck.
The shower quickly ends and Bryson opens his eyes.
He looks to where Kaden was and he's lying on the ground.
Bryson laughs as Kaden pretends to be dead.

"R.I.P Kaden, killed by water" Bryson jokes and they both laugh.
"Aren't we teenagers? Why are we so childish?" Kaden asks.
They walk towards the water slide.
The water slide was light blue, and only twenty-ish feet up.
It had the shape of an eight, with two short lines making the beginning of the loop and the end.

They walk up the stairs and get in line.
Three other swimmers stand in line, with a lifeguard at the start.
A sign was to their right.
"Do not touch the ventilation pipe!" Kaden reads out the sign.
"Sorry, we just don't want kids falling off the side of platform." The lifeguard informs.

Kaden and Bryson both stare at the pipe.
Bryson feels uneasy looking at it.
"Psst, Bryson." Kaden whispers.
"What?" Bryson quietly responds.
"I dare you to touch the pipe." Kaden says.

Bryson nods, although feeling weirdly scared of doing so.
He glaces at the lifeguard, who is looking to make sure nobody is at the end of the slide.
Bryson walks to the edge and reaches out his hand.
He feels a sort of energy coming off the pipe, but persists.
"Don't touch that!" The lifeguard yells, but it's too late.

When Bryson makes contact with the pipe, nothing happens.
He pulls his hand back.
The lifeguard starts walking towards him.
"Sorry, just got curi-" Bryson gets cut off by a searing pain in his body.
He grabs his hand, and realizes it's changing.

His fingers slowly transform into paws as brown fur sprouts all over his arm.
The lifeguard tries to grab him, but Bryson suddenly trips.
As Bryson hits the floor, two ears grow out of his head.
He looks around just to see he has a brown tail.
Bryson gets up on all fours and looks at a puddle on the floor.

"I'm the creature from my dreams." Bryson thinks.
And that's when he got knocked out.
