Author's pov
A young woman, wearing an apron, came outside of her cafè to turn the sign hanging outside around so the customers could see the 'OPEN' sign. She sighed when a young boy came inside. It was an everyday routine now.
"Same like always?" She asked the boy who nodded and engaged in reading a novel he had been carrying since getting out of his house.
The sound of the working machine making cappuccino could be heard as the woman took out a cup and put it under the pouring device. She then took the hot cup and placed it in front of the boy.
"Soobin, are you going to tell me what's wrong?" She asked gently making the boy look up nervously at her.
"Why do you ask? It's nothing," he stuttered and cursed every single time he did.
"Am I not your best friend? Come on, spill it out," she encouraged Soobin to finally tell the truth but he merely shrugged and continued reading.
The woman scoffed and was going to get up when Soobin called out, "Promise me you won't tell this to Rosè?" She again sat down with a confused look but nodded.
"It's.... she likes a boy...," he looked down guilty, feeling as though he was betraying his sister.
"OH! Isn't this good news? Why sad huh?" She asked him with a small smile but it looked suspiciously painful unnoticed by Soobin.
"No, listen... I like that... boy too," Soobin gulped, and looked even down, not able to meet her eyes.
"Love triangle? Is it? Soobin, if you like him, why didn't you confess at the very first moment? Now look, your sister is gonna take him away-"
"Oh shut up Jisoo. I ain't going to break her heart. I've seen the love in her eyes for him... she does love him. I don't wanna take her first love away..."
"So are you ready to be his brother-in-law? If I were at your place, I wouldn't have let someone take what is mine. You have to act brave, know. And she isn't your blood-related sister, she's your cousin. It won't hurt much after-"
"Don't you continue! I can't even dream to snatch her love. Never." Soobin cut Jisoo off sharply who just sighed at her best friend's behaviour.
"Soobin, I know how much you love her but isn't your choice important? I am not the type of person to give off advice for being a cheater but I just know the truth. Rosè is not fit for that boy-"
"I know you aren't that type of person but why are you suddenly asking me to cheat on her? She likes the boy, you know I love her a lot, you even know I can't break her heart then why? And how do you know she's not fit for him when you've never seen him before? Are you trying to cover something? Tell me."
Jisoo looked at him and gulped. She knew she was making it obvious by her tone and her expressions which were, if she looked in a mirror, the most nervous and hurt face ever.
"I-it's nothing," she pressed her lips together because she had felt the familiar burning sensation in her eyes.
"No, I still don't believe you. Tell me already, is there anything bothering you?" Soobin asked gently.
"It's-" She was relieved when a bell rang at the door entrance and a customer came in. She hurriedly stood up and went away to look after her.
While she made the coffee, a tear slipped but she wiped it off and glanced upwards to see Soobin leaving the place.
She can't say the truth, he will be disgusted...
