"Pick it up," Suga suggested, side-eyeing Jimin's phone.
"Yup," Lisa agreed. "Your ringtone's embarrassing us."
"Is that really what you care about?"
"Yup."
Suga scoffed and rolled his eyes at her. Meanwhile, Jimin and Jungkook fussed over who would pick the damn call. But then, it was Jimin's phone, so the latter won.
"Hello?"
The phone was kept on speaker. So when the other line replied, Jimin had to lower the volume since Nari seemed to be relieved and excited by his mere voice.
"Jimin!? Oh, my holy moly! You don't know how worried I was getting! Why wouldn't you pick up the call on the first ring? And why the hell is this rabbit of yours not opening the door!?" she yelled.
Jimin stared blankly at the screen. The fact that his and his best friend's bloody enemy was worried for them was scarier than all the pranks she had ever pulled on them. It made him wonder if she was on the evil side, too.
"What are you doing outside his house?"
"Don't behave as if Jungkook isn't a piece of big news already. The entire country knows that that bastard for a mafia is searching all over Korea to find his hashtag beloved. I'm here to protect you! Now open the door."
Suga made a cringe face at her screeching and ugly voice while Lisa looked extremely worried. Jungkook gulped and motioned Jimin to go on.
"We... We aren't there at the moment."
"What do you mean by that!? You're supposed to be here! He's gone crazy, I tell you! He's searched every public place to find Jungkook! Even the police are influenced by his power and money."
"We... We had no idea about that. But how do you know about the officers?"
"Well, my father is the chief officer of the police so I suppose it's obvious for me to know. But I swear I'm not with him at all! Where are you anyway? Is the prince with you?"
Jungkook stared in disbelief at being called a prince. It wasn't an insult, but not a suitable name either.
"We're at the bus stop... with two other people. Stop! Don't ask about them yet. I can't risk it."
"Seriously? Still don't trust me? Alright, I'm coming to you anyway. Wait for me. Do you have a disguise?"
"Yes -"
Jimin was interrupted when Jungkook snatched the phone from his hand and began yelling at Nari instead.
"Who do you think you are? Why are you suddenly behaving as if we've been the best mates since our nappies? What's all this about, seriously?"
Nari went silent for a long time, so long that they might as well have cut the call. But then she spoke again, in a mature voice that no one would expect in their wildest dreams.
"I regret doing every shit I did. Yes, I'm making it up this time. It's too late, but can we forget it and be friends?" she chuckled dryly. "Maybe I was jealous that you're so smart, you can make your parents proud, and you could even have someone like Taehyung to be with you. It was silly of me. You can still cut this call, and I'll call you no more. But please, could I have a second chance? I'm truly sorry."
Lisa blinked out the tears that formed in her eyes. Suga stayed silent and waited for Jubgkook's response. He could now recall who Nari was; she wasn't nice. Jimin exhaled deeply and put his head in between his palms.
"Some people don't deserve a second chance," Jungkook started. He could imagine Nari going still to hear him. "But I've been taught that those who truly regret and shame themselves have to be given a second chance. Yes, we can be friends."
