Lisa looked around at all of them. She bit her lips, staring at her parents for a long minute, nervously. Maybe she hadn't thought about her decision? It took Lisa a long time to say as the air of impatience started getting heated.
"Yes......" Lisa finally declared, looking down at her feet. Jungkook let out a small hiss noticed by Lisa but she shrugged thinking Jungkook must be hurt somewhere.
"Oh wow!" The elders cheered and hugged each other and the soon-to-be couple.
"So let's arrange the engagement day," Mrs Manobal suggested.
"Of course," and all of them started discussing the date while giving the two to choose which food to order.
"Fine," Mr Jeon said. "After 2 weeks, Jungkook and Lisa will get engaged!" Again there was a roar of applause.
"Wait, wait guys," Mrs Jeon said, noticing the two younger. "Should we give them time to talk and know each other, what say?"
"Oh yeah, I also forgot about that. Fine, then, Lisa and Jungkook, you both can go to the back garden," Mrs Manobal addressed them. "No one can be there," she added, smirking slightly; Mrs Jeon noticed that and she, too, smirked unnoticed by any others.
Jungkook gulped and looked up to see Lisa already standing and waiting for him to do the same. He stood up, not looking at her.
"Come when you finish," Mrs Jeon said, Jungkook was not able to understand what she meant by finish, but as he glanced at Lisa, she too seemed not to understand.
He and Lisa bowed to their in-law and went away down to the garden. They found a spot and sat there in awkward silence. Mrs Manobal was right, there were not many people in here.
"So," Lisa said, breaking the endless silence. "You're ready?" That was not the type of question he had expected from her. Jungkook stared at her blankly, thinking of the answer.
"Hmm I think so I did tell it," Jungkook replied, unsure if it was true.
"Yeah...," she clutched her fists tightly on the bench and looked around. Jungkook was just staring at her; no doubt she had no definition of beauty.
"And you?" Jungkook asked the same. She glanced at him before getting interested in an apple tree whose leaves were blowing as the breeze made it rustle gently.
"I guess I said it too," Lisa replied, getting a bit comfortable with Jungkook as she smiled her true smile; the previous one, Jungkook thought, had been fake.
Lisa is a kind girl, not like Jungkook had thought after seeing her pictures. If said to be true, he had no doubt she would not be kind and helpful, but like any other rich child, he had ever seen, every single one of them had been spoiled, even Tae-......... thinking about him made Jungkook sad. He felt heavy at the bottom of his stomach as he knew he was cheating on Taheyung. He did not want this to happen. Even now, he wanted to share this with Lisa and get over it but no..... he already said his decision and what if Lisa is also homophobic? What if she is spoiled and would say his secret to his parents?
There were many questions but no answers to them.... and that's the feeling killing Jungkook from the inside.
"You had any relationship?" Lisa asked, breaking his thoughts and stopping the tear which was going to just fall a second before.
At the mention of the relationship, Jungkook took a whole good eight minutes to process which Lisa just waited patiently. "Yeah," Jungkook spoke truthfully, at least this time if he spoke the truth, nothing harm would happen.
