(Fred's P.O.V)

*Moments before*

I could hear yelling from across the hall so I poked my head out to find out what was happening.

"What's going on?" I asked as I noticed Sirius and Remus outside Y/n's door.

"Nothing, a family matter!" Sirius snapped, glaring at me.

"Sirius! Be nice. It isn't just our family affected. Headmaster Dumbledore was murdered the other night." Remus told me.

I didn't even think before rushing over and practically kicking the door down as I ran over to Y/n's bed. She was curled up in a ball crying as I ran around and scooped her into my arms. I heard Sirius growl at me but ignored him. Y/n needed me right now! Y/n had spared no details telling me about how great of a Granddad Professor Dumbledore had been to her. I could see the awkward face Remus was pulling as he sat down, he clearly didn't know what to do in this situation.

"You clearly already know," He said resting his hand on Y/n's shoulder.

"Yes, I had to find out from an almost complete stranger! You didn't even come and tell me!" She sobbed moving closer to me effectively pulling away from her father.

"We did try to honey but you weren't home. We found your note saying you were at the joke shop so we thought we would let you have some fun yesterday before we came back today to break the news to you." He told her, I could see in his face he had never been in this position before, never had to tell her someone had died let alone why someone else told her.

"Instead you waited so  long that a friend of Harry's sent me a letter and told me!" She said burying her face in my chest.

I quickly scanned around us till I found the offending letter it had been discarded to the side along with other parcels and letters.

"We're sorry Y/n, we really are. We will give you some space, when you're ready to talk we will be downstairs." He told her as he got up.

I mouthed that I would look after her to which he sent an appreciative smile before leading a complaining Sirius downstairs. I let Y/n cry for about half an hour before she lifted her head from my chest. I summoned the glass of water from the side table and filled it up. Y/n sculled it as we continued to sit in silence.

"He is gone!" Y/n sobbed after a few minutes.

"He might be gone but he's not really gone, he is watching over you! He loved you very very much Y/n! I can tell just from the stories you told me." I told her as she cuddled back into me.

"I  don't feel like talking to my parents today, I just want to go to bed." She whispered to me.

"Okay, I'll go let them know I'll be right back I promise," I told her, getting out of bed.

I left the room and walked downstairs to where I found her parents in the lounge room.

"She's still rather upset. She just wants to sleep for a bit. She might be ready to talk tomorrow, but for now, I'm going to spend a bit of time with her and try and cheer her up. I know you don't like that Sirius but Y/n needs me." I say as they turn to me.

"Of course, you do what you need to and tell Y/n she can have as much time as she needs. We might just stay here till her birthday next week." Remus told me.

I nodded and headed to the dining room finding a few different snacks in the cupboards and taking them up to Y/n. Y/n hadn't moved since I left she was just staring up at the roof as she lay on the bed. I placed the food down on her side table and climbed onto the bed next to her. She moved closer to me straight away. I wrapped my arms around her as she continued to stare up at the ceiling.

"What did Papa mean when he said Grandad was murdered?" She asked.

"I don't know, but when you feel up to it you can ask him. Your parents said they will stay till your birthday." I told her as I stroked her hair comfertingly.

She moved closer to me again and we just lay there until I feel her breathe slow telling me she had fallen asleep. I kissed her forehead.

"I will always keep you safe! I love you!" I mumble to her before falling asleep.

(Auther's P.O.V)

While Y/n and Fred slept peacefully upstairs back at Hogwarts things weren't going well. The repairs from the death eater brake in was underway, Minerva was planning the funeral and sending the Ministry Dumbledore's will and testimony so they could check it and give those on the list what he left them. Minerva didn't just lose her Headmaster that day, she lost her best friend. Severus had also  fled and despite their differences  Severus and Minerva were close.

Like everyone Minerva was heart broken over the lose of Headmaster Dumbledore, everyone was feeling the lose but she knew that her niece would be feeling it the most. Y/n had only just got her family back. Her father had been wisked away to Azkaban when she was two and she hadn't seen him again till her 4 year, 12 years later it had only been 4 years since she got her Dad back. Up until then Albus had been the one to look after her as her Papa had to go out and earn money so he could look after her.

Minerva could remember when Y/n and Remus first arrive all those years ago. Y/n had always believed they lived here since she was born but truth be told it wasn't till the night Sirius was taken away. Remus had been heartbroken, he thought he would never be able to raise Y/n but Albus had been there for him and took on the role of Granddad. He was the reason she is who she is. Without Albus Remus and Y/n would have been done for. Y/n couldn't access the Black family funds until 18 without her Dad and Remus couldn't get any other job because they were Werewolves! He was considering giving her up so she would have the best fighting chance she had but Albus had saved them both.
