little 6 year old robin buckley just got home from school. she had a bruise on her right cheek and her hair was all messed up. her parents walked out of the kitchen and her dad gasped. "oh no, sweetie. what happened?" he asked, kneeling next to robin. there were tears prickling at the edge of her eyelids and she couldn't breathe.vickie..someone who she thought was her best friend, just punched her in the face after messing her hair up. she told the whole school her secret..about her being gay. the school made fun of her, she had no friends. she trusted vickie..but vickie betrayed her.
instead of answering her dad, robin ran upstairs and went to her room, slamming the door. she threw her bag against the wall before plopping onto her bed, screaming into her pillow.
today was the worst day of her life.

10 year old robin sighed as she knocked on steve harringtons door. she met steve a few weeks ago, he was the only accepting one. besides eddie, who she had met three days ago.steve opened the door and smiled, "welcome to the harringtons lair, buckley" he joked and robin playfully rolled her eyes. "whatever, doofus" she softly laughed as steve stepped aside so she can come in. he shut the door and they walked to his room, "eddie's already here" he said as they walked into the room.
"look, it's my favorite gay" eddie smiled. "and how is my favorite guitarist doing?" robin asked as she sat down on one of steve's chairs. "i'm okay. steve was about to put on a movie" eddie looked at steve, "ain't that right, big boy?" eddie joked. "how many times have i told you to not call me that" steve groaned as he grabbed his remote, "and we're watching the ghostbusters" he sat next to eddie.
robin groaned, "again?" she crossed her arms. "what else would we watch?" steve asked. "back to the future" robin suggested and steve shook his head, "well, it's better than watching the same movie we've watched almost everyday."
they were interrupted when steve's room phone rang. he got up and answered it, "steve harrington speaking" he said. he turned to look at robin, "it's for you."
robin got up and took the phone, "hello?" she said. it was her mom. she listened as her mom spoke, he smile dropped and her gut was hurting. "okay, yeah. i'm on my way" she said and hung up. she turned to the boys, "uh..i have to go. it's a family emergency" she said, grabbing her bag.
"if you need us, we're here for you" eddie gave her a sad smile. "thank you guys, i'll see you at school" she said before walking out. she got onto her bike and rode home.
once she got home, there were ambulances in front of her house. she got off her bike and went to them. she saw he mom talking to one of them and her dad inside the ambulance, on a bed. "mom?" she said. robins mom looked at her, "oh sweetie, i'm so sorry" she said, tears rolling down her cheeks as she sniffled. "what's going on?" robin asked.
"your father..he has leukemia."

6 years later. 16 year old robin walked into her first day of senior year at hawkins high. steve drove them there. she looked around and sighed. "come on, cheer up rob. we're seniors now!" he smiled. "yeah, whatever. let's just get this over with." robin sighed as they walked to their lockers. "maybe you should try band this year." eddie suggested, "you look like a trumpet player" he shrugged. "and be close to the girl who outed me out to everyone? no thank you" she shook her head."come on, rob. you cant spend another year doing nothing but mope around all year, okay? you need to find something to do, don't worry about your mom too much" steve said. "how? she's literally destroying herself. she had been after.." she shook her head as the bell rang, "i'll think about it" she said as the trio walked to their first period together. they sat in the back as usual. eddie and robin behind steve.
steve looked up and smiled once he saw someone walking towards them. ah, yes..nancy wheeler. steve's new girlfriend. also known as the biggest priss at hawkins high. but that doesn't stop robin from looking at her.

robin walked inside her house after school. her mom was sitting on the couch, looking like she knew something. "mom?" she said. "when we're you going to tell me, ro?" her mom sighed. robin froze. she knew what her mom meant. "well..i-i swear i was going to tell you, i just needed time" robin said."you could've told me, i'm your mother" she said, "do you..hate me?" robin asked. her mom took a deep breath and shook her head, "of course i don't hate you. i just wish you would've told me" she said as she pulled robin in for a hug.
robin smiled as she felt tears threatening to come out, tightly hugging her mom back.
