I wake up in the morning feeling... disgusted with myself. I get up looking into the mirror. It looks like me, but I can't help seeing myself differently. What is he trying to do to me. What is this joke of a mating bond. I thought this was going to be the best time of my life and I've never been in so much emotional distress. For all the times my father told me how horrible of a person I was. No matter how many times he hit me or spat at me that I wasn't worthy of love. I had never truly believed him. But all I have done since finding my mate is lie and betray my family. And for what. He doesn't love me. It's not love keeping us so captivated by each other. No it's a deep indescribable lust for each other. Maybe I'm everything my father said I was. Maybe I'm worse than what even he said I was.

My phone dings on the nightstand drawing my attention away. I reach over to grab it, seeing the time flash 8 am on my phone as I pick it up. It's Jackson. I finally said screw it the other day and accepted that he's gonna be contacting me occasionally and put his contact in my phone as Alpha Jackson.

Im sorry for the way I acted last night. I think it's best we keep our conversations strictly in public places. I don't think it's appropriate for us to converse in private anymore. Due to this factor I've decided to let Jared take over as your combat instructor. He will seek you out when it's time for your lessons.

I read the message multiple times before finally deciding to just leave him on read. He's made it perfectly clear where we stand. Last night was a huge mistake and he's just as disgusted with our behavior as I am. And we need to stop immediately. My phone once again goes off, this time a message from my sister.

Wedding planning starts tomorrow!! Meet me in the dining hall at 10 am tomorrow to help me plan please😘

I reply with a simple ok and leave it at that. I need to get out of this house. I may have to stay with them until the wedding but they didn't say I had to be locked up in this damn place. I quickly change into a pair of ripped shorts and a plain blue top.  I put on sneakers, planning on going for a run to clear my head. I head out my door locking it behind me with the key I was given. For some reason I feel like I'm sneaking out of the pack house and can't help but basically walk on my tip toes. I finally find my way to the front door of the house and walk out. There's a lot of people outside training, some glance at me but most don't seem to notice me at all. I'm not their soon to be Luna so they pay me little attention here. I'm just the little sister supporting Sabrina  through her new life.

I walk past them as I head towards the lining opening into a deep wooded area. Once I reach the clearing I start to run. And once I'm far enough that nobody can see me I switch to my wolf form.

About an hour goes by of running at full speed before I clear the forest and it opens up into what looks to be a normal human town. I discreetly switch back to my human form, grateful that I wore my wolf  branded clothes that they somehow figured out a way to charm so that they remain on your human body completely intact as soon as you switch to your human form again.  I start walking towards an old diner. I didn't eat breakfast at the house so luckily I brought my wallet with me. I walk into the diner and an older human waitress immediately introduces herself as she takes me to my seat. "My names Donna sweetheart. I'll be your server today would you like a few moments to look at the menu?" I smile at her. "Yes please."

Im debating between breakfast and lunch still when a dark figure slides into the seat across from me. I look up and immediately tense up. It's the the vampire from the club I went to for my birthday. He smiles at me showing me his vampire fangs just like he did at the club.

"What, what are you doing here?"

He laughs and his voice is much lighter than I expected, "I'm sorry. This must look really really creepy, ya me being a vampire and all not to mention we saw each other outside our respective clubs and now here hours from there, I can definitely see why you would think I'm like stalking you."

I glare at him with mistrust. Is he nervous? He seems to be nervous which is weird considering as he said this definitely feels a bit stalkerish on his part. "Well are you?"

He looks at me with confusion. "Am I what?"

I can't help but laugh. This whole conversation is so completely not what I was expecting it to be. I always thought the first vampire experience I had would end with daggers and a fight to the death. Not an awkward conversation in a random diner in the middle of nowhere.  "Are you stalking me?"

He laughs awkwardly pushing his dirty blonde hair out of his face revealing brownish red eyes. The red probably comes from his vampire heritage. He's very tall with very lean muscles. "Sorry, no I'm not stalking you. I was actually just visiting some friends when I saw you outside the club. I was gonna go up to you and start a conversation when I saw you the second time when you were leaving but you looked a little... intoxicated."

That's an understatement to say the least.

"So anyways when I saw you in this diner that by the way I come to like every morning for there amazing pancakes, it felt like fate."

I blink. I look around to make sure nobody is near and then I lean across the table and whisper, "You do realize I'm a werewolf. Right?" He does the same seeming to be completely mocking me as he whispers. "I do. And I am a vampire but my names Gabrielle. You can call me Gabe though. What's your name?"

Once again I'm speechless. Im starting to think maybe my father over dramatized the danger of vampires. Because this kid, Gabe as he said. He's giving very much golden retriever and not at all scary blood sucker. I wonder if Jackson knows how close vampires or at least this one vampire is to his territory. And then it hits me. Jackson. For the first time since I met him I've felt.. normal. Talking to this vampire named Gabe has made me feel normal. That's when I decide I don't care if he's a vampire or what my dad said. If he can manage to distract me for a little while and give me a sense of normalcy I can certainly deal with some blood sucking tendencies. As long as it doesn't involve killing innocent humans that is... I'll have to fact check that at some point.

I smile at him, a genuine one. He seems surprised at first but then smiles back. "So, what's your name werewolf girl?" I reach my hand out to him and he slowly puts his hand into mine. His hands feel, slightly colder than a normal human, but not unpleasant at all. "My names Alison. It's nice to meet you Gabe."

He pulls his hand away slowly, keeping a slight smile on his face the entire time. It's then that I remember what he said earlier. "Wait, hold up... you can eat human food?!" He laughs loudly at this, his entire face lighting up with laughter. "Oh Alice I think we are going to be very good friends."

So how do y'all feel about Gabe. I'd love to hear your thoughts about this chapter.
