My Forbidden Mate

Chapter 16

Jacksons Pov

It takes all my self control to not drag both alpha Darren and this piece of shit kid out by the backs of their necks. I was just about to sit down to a peaceful fucking dinner with my pack when Darren walked in. I was expecting him but he was supposed to be here in 2 hours not right now. I was planning on using this dinner as a way to warn Alice of her fathers upcoming visit. And nobody told me this asshole was coming.

Ben. I wanna kill him. Just for the way he looked at my mate when she walked in. Like that body was his to look at. Like he had the right. And then her fathers comment about the dress calling her a whore. It took everything I had not to rip his throat out right then.

My attention is drawn back to Alice and douche bag when she starts to talk to him. "Ben.. what are you doing here?"

Ye I'm wondering the exact fucking thing actually. I was told it would be Darren and his beta. This kid is not the beta I met.

"My dad passed away. And as his only son I took over his position."

Motherfucker. Of course he did.

"Oh Ben," my eyes flick to Alice as she sets her hand on top of his. Fuck this. I keep my hands under the table fisted so tight I can feel veins sticking out. "I'm so sorry. Was it his heart?"

He nods.

I've had enough. I clear my throat, "So Darren? Why are you here for this wonderful visit?"

Son of a bitch just smiles. "I just wanted to see how the wedding planning was going. I'll be here for a week, as we discussed. And of course to see my daughter." He looks directly to Sabrina. No mention of daughters plural. Just the one. I look over at Alice and her face is as smooth and unaffected as glass. It makes me wonder how many times he's made comments like this before.

The rest of dinner goes as smooth as it possibly could. Other than Alice and douche exchanging secret glances that make me want to blow my brains out. Sabrina and her dad discuss wedding planning and Jared is talking to the douche now too. My mate and my beta seem to like him far to much. Apparently he knew the kid when he was in their pack. 

Finally dinner ends. Sabrina tells me she is going to show her father to his room. And asks me to show Ben to his. I'm about to disagree and tell her to do it when I see Alice look over in panic. And something about that satisfies me so I graciously agree, the nice guy I am.

The first half of the walk is pretty awkward, as I'm waiting for us to be out of ear shot. "So you and my mate."

He looks at me in surprise. Why I'm not sure considering I think we both remember me pinning him to a wall a couple weeks ago. Man would I like to do that again. 

"I'd rather not discuss her with you."

"Why's that?"

He looks at me calmly. "Because the things I have to say to you would probably end with me pinned to a wall or just dead."

I snort. Fair enough. I notion him to the room we are standing in front of and hand him a key card. "Well if you would like to live... stay away from her. And don't look at her like you did in that dining room again or I'll rip your eyes out of their sockets." 

He tenses up but doesn't respond. I sigh running my hands through my hair. This is going to be a very long week.

I decide to get some paperwork done for a couple hours and then I think I'll go talk to Alice. I want to apologize for her having to see her father without warning. And maybe get a little information about the ex boyfriend thing. 

Alisons POV

I'm sitting in my room about to change into my pajamas when I get a knock on the door. I feel my heart jump and I'm terrified it will be my dad, ready to go for round two, privately this time. I open the door and Ben stomps right in.

"Oh yes come on in."

He shakes his head at me profusely. "Is this a joke Alice? You know when Darren told me we would be going to see your sister and her mate to check up or whatever I really didn't expect to see the asshole who assaulted me and mated my girlfriend."

I refrain from reminding him that by that point I was already his ex girlfriend.  "I didn't even know you were here Ali. I thought you were somewhere off living happily with your mate. Well it turns out you are with your mate but he's marrying your sister?!" What the hell is going on?"

I sigh, "he signed a contract agreeing to fake the mating bond with my sister to strengthen both our packs. Before he met me and realized I was his mate." 

"So what, your just going to stand by and watch him marry your sister?"

I shrug, "I don't really have a choice."

He looks at me. "This whole time I thought at least you were happy. At least you get to finally be free of your father."

"Ye, well unfortunately that's not the case considering after they get married I'm not staying here. I'm going pack to our pack. I'm stuck."

He comes closer and grabs my hand. "We were happy Alice. I have my own place now. Your always welcome there when you come back."

I look at him knowingly. "Benji... are you offering me a place to sleep? Or asking me to get back together?"

He smiles sheepishly, "I guess that depends on your answer."

I shake my head. "All the reasons we broke up are still there Ben. Your going to find your mate and you are going to forget all about me."

He shakes his head and caresses my cheek. "I could never forget about you. All I've thought about is you. All I wanted when my dad died was to call you but I thought you were happy. I didn't want to ruin that for you. But your not and it's because of him. I can make you happy again. You just have to let me prove it."

And before I can stop him he grabs my hip with his other hand, still holding my cheek in his left and leans in and kisses me. And I hear the door open a second later and the air leaves my lungs in one quick breath as I jump back from Ben and make eye contact with my mate standing there looking more furious than I've ever seen him.
