Poison

I awoke just in time to see the space debri heading my way. It must of been maybe 2mm in diameter, but when travelling at near light speed, it's a death sentence.
I tried to jump out of the way but it was then I realised the gravity was off, I was fucked and accepted my fate.

Yet it didn't come, the debri disappeared. I looked around me, no one was there, and the room was a mess.

Broken glass and metal, the floor had come apart and the lights were mostly off apart from the emergency lights. I saw the door that lead me out of the room, locked shut. I tried to grab onto something to move but nothing was in reaching distance. And no, you can't swim in the air to move about, unless you can grab on to something, you cannot move unlike in the movies.

I had nothing, destined to die or be found but probably die. Except no, I still have my shoes!
I took them off and threw it in the opposite direction of the door, slowly and I mean very slowly, I began moving. I even saw my DVD that was in my pocket. Important that is so I reached out to grab it...

And that's when it happened, the debri struck the ship, and I collapsed to the floor and blacked out.

Only awoken when a heat vent blasted hot sulphate gas in my face. My crew, at least the 4 of them were alive, trying to keep the ship diving headfirst into a planet.

I got up and rushed to my seat, well to Kim's seat I couldn't probably see where I was going. After bumping into her and seeing her underwear through the damp clothing -it's not like I was trying to look there-, I rushed to my seat.

Bloodstained the cushy chair and the controls.

"Alright!" I said, "What's the situation?"

Kim responded, "Something went wrong, we've been transported to some planet that's hot as the Sun's surface." She pressed several buttons  and then pulled a lever to pull the fuel from the thrust engines to the back-thrust engines.

I looked around, it was me and Kim. Mark and Gordon were also there and Mary just came back from the other room carrying an REMP.

Mark spoke, "The electricity are back online Mary, you can drop that. See if the Bravo-03 is ok."

I got up to the redirection fuel, I saw on the screen where it was heading. As captain I had full controls. I looked around for paper and pen in a frenzy.

Gordon asked, "What are you doing?"

"I need paper and pen as well as our speed and angle."

Gordon got up and gave me a graph sheet and a pencil, "I got this, and also  we are travelling at 370mph at 57° South. The gravitational pull is 5 times that of Jupiter."

I thanked him and rushed to my desk. The adrenaline was pumping through my veins, my heart rocked out of its position, and my hands, well they were shaking like I had parkinsonisms. Yet, I did the maths, we could not escape this planets gravitational pull. Not with the back-thrusts.

"Guys we can't escape this thing, not with the back-thrusts"

"What do we do?"

"I'm going to pool the fuel at the left thrust, Kim you send the nitrogen at the Thrust. Gordon redirect all remaining fuel from the back-thrust to the thrust except the hydrogen. Send that to the left thrusts. Once we turn send it the back-thrust."

Kim asked," When do I turn on the thrust? "

"Just before we make a full 180° turn. About 160°."

Mark protested, "Sir the fuel will ignite in the pipes if we do this."

"This planet's coldest temperature is 2,500°C, pick your poison."

"Ah fuck!"

Gordon chuckled, "Alright guys, let's do this!"

I responded with a laugh, "And if we don't make it, it was an honour seeing Kim's underwear through her damp clothing."

Mark, Gordon, and Mary also laughed

"Hey!"

At least I'd die with a joke I suppose. I pooled the fuel towards the left thrust. Everyone else did what they were told. Mark and Mary to reduce the risk of fire sent the water surrounding the pipes to cool the fuel a bit.

The ship drifted at the atmosphere of the planet, flames stuck onto the metal and began to break in slowly. The speed increased and so did the bumps.

The entire ship violently vibrated and shook. I felt my blood building up in my legs as the G-force pulled on my back.
My spine felt like it was going to snap in millions of pieces. I felt my feet grow and morph before shrinking in red. My vision was being blinded by dying blood cells.

The ship was around 160° when the nitrogen on the thust blasted. Of course the gravity prevented it from reaching the engines in time, it was only when we reached a full 180° turn that it managed to light up.

The bones in my body cracked and popped. I was blinded and put of oxygen. My lungs were on fire as it imploded, my gut was cold and sickly, it felt like it would explode and rupture.
The acid in my stomach turned alkaline, Mighty and downright divine explosions in the pipes drowned my thoughts. I passed out just before the G-force peeked at 30. In reference, fighter pilots in the early  21st century could withstand 9, and that's with all their fancy gear.

I'm just a man with no shoes.
