The EUSSKR

I woke up in the ship floating. The graph paper I did maths on floated by. The pencil I used was on fire as it gently moved and bounced off the walls and chairs and tables. Mugs of coffee spread about the air in a blissful silence.

Hot brown liquid clashed with hot red liquid, well no reason to gaslight, it was blood... Wait blood. Holy fucking shit I'm daydreaming.

I spun my head around to noise, Gordon's legs were ripped apart, his torso screaming in agony. Mark took off his shirt to help clot the blood, Kim did the same to.
I looked for Mary but couldn't find her, not in this chaos no. Heat was rapidly approaching my neck, it was burning slightly and I co-

Fucking shit the pipes!
I turned my head to the source of the heat, a ball of flames expanding in all directions burning everything in its path.
I saw the hydrogen pipe also leaking gas into the room.
And if you know anything about the Hindenburg disaster just under a millennium ago, well I need to get out.

"Kim, Mark!" I yelled out as I used a chair to propel myself to her, "Hydrogen! We have to get the fuck out!"

Gordon by this point was unconscious yet alive, nothing we can do for him. Mary came in a panic.

"I got the detachment ship working, let's go!"

We all lept following Mary leaving Gordon behind. Kim shut the door to the room we were in before we hurried along to the detachment ship.

The detachment ship is like an escape pod but bigger an more useful. It has all the necessary and recreational parts for humans.
The escape pod can only last 3 humans for 3 days.

The command room was lit ablaze as the hydrogen gas connected with the ever-growing flame.
I could hear the pipes and other rooms exploding and shuttering. But it was fine, the detachment ship was here and ready to go.

"Mary, Mark, Kim. Are you ready?"

"Yes"

"Okay detaching ship and using primary thrusts heading 50° from the ship."

"The controls are Oscar-01, Mark how's the oxygen?" Kim spoke.

"Oxygen levels at 86% optimum but the generators are on. But I can't find where we are, if we could get to a body we'd maybe have a chance."

I responded, "Yeah turn that off for now, I'm going to boost us to a planet or star or something to give the computers something to lock on. We need to find where we are."

Omce the systems were in place, I detached the last cable and blasted the thrusters to a nearby black hole. I know its not the safest but we were light years away from anything else.

This black hole not only was a week away, but we could use its gravity to boost our speed once we found out where we were.

I let out a sigh of relief once we were away from the USSKR. I looked back with protection googles, the fireball was short and quick, but it burned brighter than the Sun. Debri was sent everywhere as the remnants of my beloved ship sunk into darkness.

The only reminder of the Billion mark ship was the detachment ship, I labbed it the EUSSKR, the E meaning escape.

The gravity was on, so we held a meeting around a table.

"Okay, before we start discussing about the situation, did any of you have a trippy experience?"

Mark responded, "What do you mean?"

"I was in the command room but no one else was there, I saw a piece of debri coming towards the ship-"

"And it disappeared," Kim finished my sentence off, "Yeah I had that experience as well."

"And so did I," Mary added on, "Mark?"

"Yeah, it was surreal. It was probably a dream or something."

I protested, "It felt too real."

Kim came and put her hand on my shoulder, "All of this feels too real, it's space. Weird shit happens. You loose your shoes, Gordon looses his legs, the 7 other crew members loose their lives, and I loose my shirt."

"I suppose so. Nice bra by the way."

"You didn't need to say that."

"Okay!" Mary collected everyone together, "we should be close enough to identify the black hole. So let's find our coordinates and figure a way to come back to Earth or some other colonised planet."

Everyone nodded and went to find the necessary equipment to do such a task. But as I was collecting data from the computer, I looked outside into the void.

The starts shown bright yet were so small. It was a completely different pattern to what I was used to. We must if travelled far, maybe to Canis Major Dwarf. Its an odd looking galaxy close to the Milky-way.
