-Y/N-
My consciousness wore thin as my vision switched between being blurry and being pitch black. I tried to get up and at least open my eyes, but it seemed I could not move. I groaned as my efforts failed.
Through my blurry blinks, I could Robin and Erica on the left of the room, also trying to get up.
On the right I saw Steve, who looked to be under a pile of boxes, and Dustin who was trying to help him up.
"Jeez, let me help." Dustin was struggling.
"No, Y/N isn't even getting up, go check on her." Steve shook his head.
"I'm fine..." I barely muttered, trying to sit up. My vision blurred again, and searing pain erupted in my head. I reached up to apply pressure on my head where it hurt. "Ow..." I mumbled.
The next thing I knew, two hands were pulling me up to my feet.
I felt the similar smell of ice cream mixed with a citrus-based cologne, sweet but not overpowering.
Safety.
I leaned on Steve for support as my vision turned to normal.
"Is everyone okay?" Robin asked, looking around.
"Yeah, I'm great, now that I know that Russians can't design elevators!" Steve yelled in frustration.
Dustin went over to the control panel and started pushing on the buttons.
"I think we've clearly established that those buttons don't work." I told him. It was no use.
"They're buttons. They have to do something." Dustin countered.
"Yeah, if we had a keycard." I said.
"A what?" He stopped, looking back at me. I was finally feeling better, so I leaned out of Steve's grasp and stood on my own.
"It's an electronic lock." I explained. "Same as the loading dock door. If we don't have a keycard..."
"...it won't operate, meaning..." Steve continued
"We're stuck in here." I nodded gravely.
There was silence as the weight of our situation slowly dawned on us.
"Just so you nerds are aware, I'm supposed to be spending the night at Tina's, and Tina always covers for me." Erica glowered at all of us, "But if I'm not home for Uncle Jack's party tomorrow and my mom finds out you four are responsible, she's gonna hunt you down, one by one, and slit your throat."
"I don't care about Tina!" Steve burst out. "Or Uncle Jack's party! Your mom's not gonna be able to find us if we're dead in a Russian elevator!"
Erica was taken aback for a moment. She blinked twice, stepping back from Steve's sudden change in demeanor.
"Hey." Dustin said, turning our attention over to him. "What if we climbed out?" He pointed up at a grate on the ceiling. That grate could lead us to the top of the elevator.
I grabbed a few boxes and positioned them to act like a staircase towards the grate. Steve climbed up on them and opened the grate. He then pulled himself up on top of the elevator box. Robin followed behind him. I helped Dustin up, and then started climbing up behind him.
"You coming?" I asked Erica.
"I'd rather save my energy." She rolled her eyes. "We dropped at least a hundred feet, not even Tarzan could climb out of here."
