Street's not entirely sure what plants the idea in his head, not what makes him actually carry through on it. Maybe it was the bow in your shoulders you'd seemed to be carrying all day or the quietness that had seen him barely getting more than two words out of you at a time, or the way you'd retreated into yourself in a way that worried him - but whatever the reason, it's what lead to now.
Now being how Street had crossed the kitchen of your shared house, and wordlessly tugged you away from the dishes you'd been cleaning to wrap his arms around you and pull you into a hug.
He feels you stiffen up almost instantly, and he almost moves away until you cautiously put a hand on his lower back after a beat. With one of his arms around your shoulders and the other laid gingerly around your waist, he can feel as you lean into him a little but you remain tense,
"Street?" You ask in a soft, confused tone. Your voice is marginally muffled by his shirt because of how your head is tucked into his chest, and the distorted quality of your words makes Street smile. "You good?"
"Mhm." He hums, trying not to let any of the uncertainty that's coursing through his mind break into his voice as he speaks. Looking down at you, he frowns a little as he tries to downplay his concern. "You just- you just looked like you could use a hug, is all."
"Oh." Your voice is quite hollow and a little raspy as you speak, and it makes a notion of worry rise in Street's mind.
"That okay?" Bit late to ask now, he thinks to himself.
"Yeah." You relax into him and Street can just about feel a little bit of his heart softening as you clear your throat and press your face into his chest. "Yeah, it is."
He hesitates for a second, but then kisses the top of your head sweetly. He thinks that maybe that's one sappy show of affection too much but then you take your head from off his chest, and lean up to press your lips to his cheek with a smile.
