Inside the pitch dark room, Bondita had threw herself on the comfy bed laying at a corner of the room and pulled a white duvet over her, covering herself from head to toe. It felt a facile attempt to hide herself amid the tenebrosity, if not from the world then from him at least. Tear cascading down her eyes uncontrollably, at times hiccuping. Chasmic pain gripping her innocuous heart each time his words would ring in her ears. Her nails digged inside the soft sheet turning them ball in fists yet she felt nothing could take the edge off her agony.
"Why patibabu! Why every time?" She placed a hand before her mouth before screeching her melancholy out. "Why don't you understand your Bondita? Why even after knowing everything you pretend as if you know nothing? Its hurts, undoubtedly it kills me. I am tired of this patibabu...your Bondita is on the brink of loosing herself! Come and save her before she actually gives upon her life." She cried and cried harder. And she knew it well no one is going to listen her tonight. She had latched the door responsively before dashing towards the bed.
There is no more tough thing in this world, when saying the simplest word gets harder than reciting down the verses of holy book just because of lack of proper gesture and tone. Her patibabu had asked an unambiguous question "If she wanted to continue her marriage or not?" Her most sorted answer should have been a "Yes". But she could not afford to answer that. Was that very hard to confess a "yes". No it was not yet it felt so. Such complicated the things are between a couple engaged in an obnoxious marriage. As far as she believed.
Saying yes was not the fact. But him acknowledging her answer by his own was her thing. How many more hurdles she needed to pass and scream this words aloud in his ears. Why was he incapable to read her this answer only, when he could read every other emotions in her eyes?
Was it really that hard? To accept her yes. It didn't seemed soo. If it was than why he himself didn't want to nullify their marriage? Every question perplexing her, trapping her in an inescapable dubiety.
Her eyelids giving up and she felt all her energy draining out of her, promising her for a dreamless night and a peaceful sleep. Crying had enervated her and all she wanted was to close her eyes as if there is no tomorrow. No future, she had to worry about.
"Noyon...."
A sudden rap on the door followed her ears after his endearment. Her eyes shoot up in horror and sleep absconded from there.
Patibabu.... She gasped, biting her inner cheeks softly, afraid of being caught in a woebegone way! Why was he here at this odd hour of time? She glanced at the clock . He shouldn't have knock on the door right. Not at this moment when she was here to hide from him!
"I am sleeping barrister babu... Lets talk tomorrow." She said to her utmost displeasure. She knew he won't be able to grapple with her tear striken face. So it was better if they avoid meeting right now. Each conundrum she faced today was enough for the day, her enfeeble body won't be able to take more.
"Noyon, just few minutes...." He pleaded, urgency overtaking his hoarse voice. Her heart melted yet reinforced walls around to slip out. "I have school next morning. So good night barrister babu...." She was browned off. "Bondita...please...." He groaned while pleading her. He was afraid to let her sail alone in the mid way of their conversation. What if she looses her track and end up being in another destination. No, his Bondita could not leave him like that!
"Please barrister babu...." She just whispered wiping off her tears. "Ok Bondita...." She heard him saying. Looks like he agreed to leave her alone tonight. "I am leaving. But I just wanted to inform you that...." He paused his sentence trying to peep inside the dark room through the gap between the sheer glass door. But alas. Darkness and darkness what all he found.
